Mittens: knitting pattern, photo, description

Many use such traditional, but not losing popularity winter accessory, as mittens. The knitting pattern of knitting such a product can be practically any.

The simplest option is to work with the front surface. But those skilled workers who have some experience, elementary ornaments, most likely, were bored. In this case, they will benefit from interesting schemes knitting beautiful mittens with knitting needles that will create not only a practical, but also an attractive thing.

Of course, such work requires more time and effort, but it's worth it. Especially if you need gift mittens. The knitting pattern can include different elements and techniques:

  • Jacquard.
  • The braids.
  • Openwork.

In this article, we will consider two models that are perfect for both winter and gift use.

Selection of yarn

For mittens it is necessary to choose the warmest of all available types of yarn. Considering that this is the only defense of the hands during the stay in the frost, it is better to stop on woolen material. If the master is more like mohair or angora, then you can use such strings.

Too thick yarn is undesirable, since it will not allow full disclosure of all the charm of the pattern, especially if knitting patterns of children's mittens are used with knitting needles. The optimum thickness is 200-250 m / 100 g.

How to start knitting

In the photo shown at the beginning of the article, mittens with a volumetric pattern. For this model, a yarn of any color and a combination of several shades is suitable.

The presence of capes in the rapport, thanks to which the formation of small holes, allows you to call the pattern openwork. Although in fact the holes are small.

If the wizard wishes to knit the openwork mittens with knitting needles, the rapport schemes should be placed not only on the back, but also on the inside of the product.

For work you will need a set of five short spokes. Initially, two of them are typed loops for the first row (their number is calculated from the control sample).

Next, all the loops are divided into four spokes and knit the elastic band in circular rows. To then go to the desired pattern, you should start the mittens properly: knitting scheme A.2 describes the order of cuffs.

Go to the main part

At a height of 10 cm from the typing edge, you should stop making gum and go to knitting the pattern.

More than half of the canvas is tied with facial smoothness: the inner part and the thumb. For decoration, we remove the pattern on the back of the mitten. The knitting pattern of the ornament is shown in the figure above and marked with the designation A.3.

Execution of increases for the thumb

Adding new loops begins after we have fastened about five centimeters of the main part of the canvas. Mark the marker one loop at a distance of 3-4 loops to the left of the ornament band (when making the right mitt). Then through the series we add:

  • One additional loop to the one marked with a marker, and one after.
  • Then, through the row, one loop is added before the one that was added in the previous row of the first. The second is added after the loop, which was added the second.
  • Additions are made until a triangle of about four centimeters in height is connected.

Then, all the loops of the triangle are transferred to a knitting pin or thick thread and left in anticipation.

The work continues with circular rows, using the same number of loops that were on the knitting needles before knitting the triangle.

Shutdown

When fitting will show that the total height of the canvas reaches the end of the little finger, it's time to start cutting.

Having spread the mitten on a flat surface so that the triangle for the finger is on the left (when knitting the accessory on the right hand), two extreme loops on the knitting needles: on the left and on the right.

Next, in each row, it is necessary to bind together (shorten) the loops before and after the marked loop. So in each row the canvas will be reduced by four loops. As a result, a neat flat cone should form.

Knitting of the thumb

Now you should return to the loops transferred to the knitting pin. They are distributed between two spokes and knit to the desired height, constantly performing fitting.

Then four loops in each row are successively cut. It should be a pointed top of mittens.

The described principles of adding and cutting loops are relevant no matter what pattern the master uses.

Knitting of jacquards

Below is a photo of interesting, but rather complicated in the performance of mittens.

They are executed jacquard ornament from two colors.

Now various variations of patterns with owls have become very popular. They can be used to knit mittens. The owl, whose knitting pattern is shown below, is also made in jacquard technique.

It can be placed on the back of the mittens, and the inner part is tied with the facial smoothness.

The main feature of jacquard patterns is that the non-working thread is laid between the loops along the wrong side. To avoid the appearance of broaches, it is necessary to twist the working and non-working threads among themselves.

Usually this is done at intervals of several loops (three to five). Also, make sure that the correct tension is observed. If you loosen the knitting, it will be too loose, if tightened, you can get a product much smaller than planned.

Knitted mittens should not be steamed with an iron - they will become soft and lose shape. It is best to just wash them in warm water and dry them in the unfolded form.
