Milling table - we manufacture ourselves

It is very convenient to work with a manual milling machine fixed to a special support. Under such conditions, it is possible to carry out various works, which, while holding it in their hands, are simply dangerous, and sometimes impossible. A large selection of milling tables is available. This device is relevant for carpentry.

The simplest design

You can make a milling table with your own hands. For this you need boards, laminated MDF (fibreboard), plywood, screws, glue, milling cutter, jig saw. The milling table has a fairly simple design. For it, you should prepare boards, the cross section of which will be 50x100mm. They need to be connected with screws. In this way the construction racks will be manufactured. The lid and adjustable carriage are made of laminated MDF and birch plywood.

Next, you need to make a cover for the base plate. The base plate is taken ready with holes made for it for milling cutters of different diameters. At an angle of 90 ° connects the vertical and horizontal parts of the rear wall. The details are cut with the allowance. The edges are machined with a milling cutter. On the back side of the lid, an opening is cut out, which is necessary to control the work of the cutter. It contains a replacement block. After that, the lid is attached to the rear wall.

Of the same boards with a cross section of 50x100mm, a frame is used to strengthen the lid using glue and screws. It must be collected on a flat surface. The finished lid is fastened to the frame. On the working surface of the table top, a recess for the base plate is selected. The depth of the notch should correspond to its thickness. So the baseplate will be flush with the entire surface. Jigsaw sawed in the niche opening under the machine. On the base plate, the mechanism is fixed and lowered into the opening. Between the walls of the opening and the machine should be a gap. After that, a groove is made across the surface - a "swallowtail", and a lid with a frame on the stand is fixed. The milling table with its own hands is ready.

Table-curbstone

An excellent homemade milling table is offered by one American craftsman. Its design is a wheelbarrow. The worktop serves as the basis for this device. In the niche under it is secured a vacuum cleaner, which plays the role of dust extraction. The side walls of the niche serve to store the instrument and to fix the electrical panel with sockets.

The milling table has dimensions of 600x950 mm. It has a rectangular hole under the milling cutterbar with a lifting mechanism and two holes of different diameters for dust collectors. To the long side of the curbstone are attached support lining 100x100 mm, which will not allow the table to bend. One of the side walls of the table is made for easy mounting removable.

In order to select the hole under the milling support panel in the tool, it is necessary to put it on the surface and screw the guide wooden blocks along the perimeter of the support panel. For these bars jig saws must be cut through the hole. A vacuum cleaner sleeve is brought to the dust collector opening. Dust to the dust collector is guided by a specially made duralumin plate. In addition, the milling table is equipped with a guide ruler with interchangeable inserts for various cutters. In general, this device, made in the form of a curbstone, is a very worthy and thoughtful design.
