Medals "For Valorous Labor": description and price

In the USSR, the awards given to people for labor feats were a kind of state gratitude. They were honored as ordinary workers and collective farmers, as well as engineers, scientists and art workers, public, party and trade union leaders, who, as best they could, brought the victory of the Soviet Union closer to fascist Germany. There are two types of medals "For Valorous Labor", which will be discussed in this article.

History of the post-war award

The government of the USSR decided to develop a sketch of the medal, which would be given to the workers of the labor front. The fulfillment of this task was entrusted to General of the Army AV Khrulev, who was engaged in the affairs of the rear of the Red Army. The authors of the drawing of the future award were the artists IK Andrianov and EM Romanov.

According to the regulations, medals "For valiant work" could be given to ordinary workers and employees, engineering and technical personnel and employees of trade union, soviet, party and other public organizations, collective farmers and other specialists involved in agriculture, as well as scientists, artists and writers .

Interesting and unusual is the fact that, despite the ambiguous attitude of the Soviet government to the church, in 1946, these awards were awarded to a whole group consisting of representatives of the clergy. The fact is that during the war they managed to collect and transfer quite large sums to help the state and the families of the dead servicemen, thereby making a significant contribution to the victory of our people over Nazi Germany. Thus, in the middle of October 1946, eight representatives of the clergy from the Chernivtsi diocese were awarded medals "For valiant work".

According to official data, this symbol was awarded to just over 16 million people. Since 1951, the decree was issued, which allowed to leave a medal in the family after the death of the recipient, and before that it had to be returned to the state.
