Coin "Crimea". The Central Bank will issue a coin of 10 rubles in honor of the Russian Crimea

For all residents of the Crimean peninsula on March 18, 2014 is a truly historic date. On this memorable day, a document was signed on the annexation of the Crimea to the territory of Russia. In this regard, the Central Bank of Russia decided to mint commemorative coins. Crimea and Sevastopol became the main characters of these regalia, which October 9, 2014 saw the light.

Historical details

The Republic of Crimea is a constituent of the Crimean federal district. It would not be entirely correct to say that the Crimea, as part of Russia, began its existence in the spring of 2014, it would be more correct to say - continued. March 16, 2014 on the peninsula was held a nationwide referendum. The main was the discussion of the status of the peninsula - the question of whether to remain Crimea in Ukraine or become part of Russia. The overwhelming majority of the inhabitants of the peninsula, through free expression of will, wished to live and work as part of Russia.

The document on the accession of the Crimean Peninsula to the territory of the Russian Federation was signed on March 18, 2014. A few days later (on March 21, 2014), a federal constitutional law was signed. The result of his action was the entry of Crimea already legally into the Russian Federation. The Republic of Crimea and the city of federal significance Sevastopol - the new subjects of the federation - began their existence as part of Russia.

As soon as this happened, the numismatic market reacted with the appearance of various souvenir sets containing coins dedicated to the Crimea and reflecting events that were of great historical significance.

Novelties of numismatics

The initiative to stamp commemorative coins about the accession of the Crimean peninsula to the Russian Federation came from Valentina Matviyenko. The Central Bank in April 2014 announced its intention to mint new steel, brass-coated commemorative coins. Crimea and Sevastopol became the main characters on the money signs, which already on October 9, 2014 came into circulation and were devoted to this historic event - the reunification of the Crimea with Russia.

To make a set of coins, a yellow metal was used, which is not precious. The size of the coins (there are two of them: one dedicated to the Crimea, the other to Sevastopol) is 2.2 centimeters in diameter. The nominal value is one and the second coin is 10 rubles. Crimea and Sevastopol will be presented in the form of images of local attractions. The Central Bank announced that both coins will be minted by a circulation of 10 million pieces each. In circulation in full they will be released during 2015.

The face of the regalia

In the upper and lower parts of the coins, the Bank of Russia and 2014, respectively, were minted. And one and the second coin (Crimea and Sevastopol) on the left and right side is decorated with laurel and oak branches. The denomination is indicated in the center, which is indicated by the inscription "10 rubles" (the word is placed under the figure). In the sign "0" of the face value, a protective element is placed, representing the inscriptions "10" and "rub." It can be seen regardless of the angle at which the image is viewed on the coin. In addition to everything described above, below is information on which mint was engaged in coining money.

The Crimean regalia

The architectural heritage of the peninsula - the castle "Swallow's Nest" contains a commemorative coin. The Crimea on it is represented by outlines, set in a mint on the circle and slightly convex.

At the top is engraved the "Russian Federation". The inscription below, which contains the coin - "Republic of Crimea". There was a place on the reverse for a memorable date - "18.03.2014".

On the sides of both coins there is an intermittent corrugation: alternating segments with a different number of reefs.

The Sevastopol coin

The famous Sevastopol monument to the "Flooded Ships" (not far from Primorsky Boulevard) against the backdrop of the outlines of the Crimean peninsula is minted on the reverse side of the commemorative coin. A small asterisk indicates the location of Sevastopol itself. The inscriptions "Russian Federation" and "18.03.2014" are on the same place as the Crimean coin. The only difference is in the bottom: instead of "The Republic of Crimea" written "Sevastopol".

The obverse of both coins are identical.

According to the opinion of historians and numismatists, coins issued to commemorate the reunification of Crimea with Russia are almost the most beautiful of the existing ones.

Other commemorative coins of Crimea

Historical incident, but the fact remains - on March 17, the day when the Crimea, following the results of the referendum, decided to withdraw from Ukraine - the republic was in fact an independent state for one day. However, this fact was not forgotten. Evidence of this - the Moscow exhibition of numismatists "COIN-2014", which offers a set of coins of the Republic of Crimea, dated March 17, 2014, for sale. The set includes coins of different denominations. Kopeechnye have a value of 10 and 50 cents, ruble coins minted in denominations of 1, 2 and 5 rubles. There is also a 10 ruble coin. Crimea on all copies of the set is represented by the inscription "Republic of Crimea" and griffin. This bird is the Crimean coat of arms. The inscription is minted in the languages of Russians, Ukrainians and Tatars. In addition, the obverse is engraved on March 17, 2014.

On the reverse of all coins - their denomination and historical heritage objects that the indigenous inhabitants of the Crimean peninsula have been proud of since ancient times: the Genoese fortress in Sudak, the fountain in Bakhchisaray, the Crimean deer and the Crimean pine, the dolphin and the ancient castle "Swallow's Nest", located in Yalta. The whole set is offered to customers in souvenir packaging. As an escort there is a reference sheet in English and Russian, which contains a brief information about all objects engraved on coins.

According to the numismatists, these coins will hardly ever become a real monetary means of circulation. The place of this set is at exhibitions, auctions and private collections of scientists and amateurs.

"Art-Grani" - a workshop of art weapons from Zlatoust of the Chelyabinsk region - also produced its own souvenir item. They became a commemorative coin. Crimea (contours of the peninsula) is depicted on the reverse. Although it would be more accurate to say that the image of the globe with intersecting meridians and parallels is shown on the opposite side . Against their backdrop, the outlines of the Crimean peninsula with marked locations of 28 settlements are visible. According to all canons and rules of coinage of banknotes, on the obverse - the bas-relief of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Masters of another workshop made and offered to fans a collection of "Crimea-2014", consisting of 25 coins (silver and gilded) of high-grade silver. Each coin weighs 1 kg, in size it is close to the size of the palm of an adult.

For historians and numismatists of the whole world, an interesting historical book is a coin. Crimea and Sevastopol, the fact of their entry into the Russian Federation for decades, centuries and millennia were reflected in commemorative coins.
