Material tight jersey: description, composition, types and reviews

Knitwear is the most popular kind of fabric. It makes clothes, bedspreads, curtains and many other items used in everyday life. Due to its unique characteristics, knitted material has become indispensable. Special attention deserves a dense jersey. This fabric is very popular due to its high elasticity and strength.

Features of dense jersey

Knitwear is a knitted fabric made by weaving loops on special knitting machines. In the production of knitted fabrics we use technologies of weaving face and back loops in different combinations. They allow you to create original drawings and patterns.

When single knitting loops, thin fabrics are created. Tight knitwear is obtained by weaving two rows of needles on each side of the fabric. So it turns out a dense fabric with a pattern on the front side.

Properties and characteristics

Material dense knitwear has these properties:

  1. Softness. All knitted fabrics are soft to the touch and pleasant to the body. The dense material does not irritate the skin and is suitable even for making children's clothes.
  2. High elasticity. The used knitting technology makes the fabric elastic. Products made of dense knitwear do not hamper the movement and at the same time sit perfectly on the body.
  3. Density. Clothes made of solid knitwear are not wrinkled and resistant to abrasion. Some types of dense knitted fabric are used for sewing warm clothes. Due to their high density, this clothing keeps warm.
  4. Hygienic properties. Knitwear of any density has great hygroscopicity and air permeability.
  5. Tight knitwear is characterized by sufficient flexibility. This material holds the shape well and stretches less.

Kinds of dense jersey

There are several types of knitwear with high density:

  • Material with fleece;
  • Cloth with pile;
  • Two-layer fabric.

Cloth with fleece is a fabric on the wrong side of which during the weaving is formed pile. Naches is caused by special needles. The front side of such a fabric remains smooth. From the scratched cloth sew children's clothes, sports suits, sweaters. This type of tissue refers to the peak and interlock.

Thick knitwear with a pile on the front side of the cloth and a smooth purl side is called a plush. This tissue is warm enough and tender to the touch. Plush is usually used for sewing children's toys, carnival costumes, interior items, bedspreads, some clothes.

A two-layer knitted fabric consists of two layers of smooth surface, which are joined together by broaches. Stretching of one layer of fabric twists the broaches of the loops of the second layer. Two-layer jersey is widely used in the manufacture of household and technical products.

Let us consider in more detail the types of knitwear, the main characteristics of fabrics.

Material peak

It is a fabric with a special intertwining of fibers, as a result of which relief patterns are obtained. In the main there is a peak with geometric patterns - small rhombuses, squares, honeycombs, cages. This type of knitwear applies to all the known waffle fabric.

Initially, the material was made from pique only from cotton. With the development of technologies, the production of fabrics expanded, and the peak was also made of synthetic raw materials. Today on sale there is a natural, artificial and mixed pique.

There are several types of jersey pique:

  • French - usually used for sewing men's shirts;
  • Children's - knitted fabric with a slight fleece;
  • Pike-bumazeya - dense material with a thick fleece on the wrong side.

By color, pique tissue is distinguished:

  • Monochromatic;
  • Unbleached;
  • Multicolored.

Advantages of the pique material:

  1. Ecological compatibility. Pique is produced only from non-toxic raw materials, safe for health and the environment.
  2. Hypoallergenicity. The tissue is suitable for people prone to allergic rashes.
  3. High hygroscopicity. Pique absorbs moisture well. Therefore among the housewives are very popular waffle towels.
  4. Breathability. The material is good for air and is ideal for sewing summer clothes.

Characteristics of the fabric interlock

This is a cloth with a cross weave of threads. The material is soft and durable. Its both sides have a smooth surface. By weaving, in fact, there is no difference between the front and the underside.

Interlok is produced by the knitting technique, which gives the material strength. The fabric withstands regular sock and washing.

Clothing from the interloc does not deform. Even after a strong stretching, the fabric quickly returns to its original form.

The main feature of interloc is resistance to the appearance of spools and stretch marks. Products made of this fabric are durable. In comparison with other knitwear, arrows do not appear in the interlock. The fabric retains its original appearance for a long time.

Interlocks are made from 100% cotton. Sometimes in the fabric can add a little viscose, lycra, polyester.

The material is smooth to the touch. It is rare to find an interlock with a nap - singing. In such a fabric, a weakly structured fiber is added, providing hairiness.

Interlocks often create fashionable models of dense knitwear.

Plush

The plush material has a high soft pile. It can be evenly distributed over the entire surface of the tissue or only in certain areas. The pile height can be from 3 to 16 mm. In the production of plush, the high pile is smoothed in one direction with special brushes. The plush is produced by a system of three strands. The basis of the cloth is cotton fabric. A second layer of material is made from the weft threads. From the wool or silk, pile is created.

Sometimes, the embossing method is used to make the pile. With the help of stencils on the fabric, drawings are created, giving the canvas a special look.

Plush has high thermal insulation properties. It's easy to drape.

There are many varieties of plush. The material distinguishes wool and cotton plush. According to the type of fiber, plush jersey is:

  • One-sided - the villi are located only on one side of the fabric;
  • Two-sided - the cloth has pile on both sides;
  • Split - differs a lot of villi and looks like velvet;
  • Looped - the type of knitting fabric is a kind of terry cloth with drawl threads.

By the method of decoration distinguish smooth, embossed, patterned and shaped plush.
