The artist was born in May 1931 in the city of Kiev, Ukraine. His father was a military engineer, his mother a laborer. Misha was not the only child in the family - he had a younger brother, Vsevolod.

When the boy was only ten years old, the Great Patriotic War began, and the Brusilovsky family was urgently evacuated to the Southern Urals, to the small town of Troitsk. In those distant times, no one imagined what talent Mischa Shayevich conceals in himself Brusilovsky. The family of the future artist returned to Kiev immediately after his release from the occupation.

Father Brusilovsky was killed at the front, while the boy and his brother lived in Troitsk in the house of their aunt. My father's sister was a doctor - she was also subjected to mobilization. A great impression on the future of the artist was made by a trip in an ambulance train. Here, the boy helped medical workers take care of the wounded. During long stops at the stations, Brusilovsky studied the nearby villages, got acquainted with the locals and exchanged salt for them with food.

Return to the homeland occurred in 1943. Hungry times forced the teenager to work on the street - along with other boys he was cleaning his shoes at the station square. Unfortunately, most of the proceeds should be given to local criminal authorities. One of them was called "Cat". One day, on the eve of the birthday of the boss, Brusilovsky painted it wiped with ordinary colored pencils. He appreciated the talent of the boy - thanks to him Brusilovsky entered a boarding school for gifted children, which became the first place of his education.

The picture "1918" brought the all-Union glory not only to Gennady Mosin, but also to Misha Brusilovsky. The beginning of independent, conscious creativity was laid.
