Lukhari is what?

The abundance of Anglicisms in the Russian language from time to time becomes an occasion for lengthy discussions. This phenomenon can be criticized or treated calmly, but sometimes the desire to use foreign words translates into pretty funny, if not ugly, forms. For example, "lukhari" - what is it generally like to understand this word, especially if the context does not help to clarify everything, and confuses even more? On the Internet recently there is an even more confusing expression: Barvikha Lukhari Vilage, and it is applied in a rather pejorative sense. We can assume that lukhari is something shameful or even indecent. In fact, everything is much simpler and in a sense more ridiculous.

Luxury: the highest gradation of luxury

Not so long ago, such a notion as "laxtery", tracing paper from English Luxury was splashed into the broad masses. What used to exist only in a narrow circle of the privileged class suddenly became public, and thanks to this there are restless creative employees of advertising agencies and glossy magazines. Laksheri is a certain segment of the market, offering status goods, underlined luxury, exclusive. Quality and functionality do not play any role, the main thing is the high cost and personalization of the offer, inaccessibility for "mere mortals". "Lukhari" is a distorted tracing paper from English Luxury, and it's not just an innocuous reservation.

How did Luxury become a "Luhari"?

Many Anglicisms are experiencing a stage of slang distortion, and the original Luxury in Russian lived as a simpler and more capacious concept of "luxury", in the sense of "the highest class, the best option." "Lux" also experienced in its time jargon distortions and hybridization, Russian suffixes and endings were added to it, from here appeared the adjective "luxury", that is, belonging to the category "luxury" - the best.

By and large, luhari is a kind of adapted Anglicism, which is often referred to as the barbarism. This is a direct and simplified reading of tracing paper from English in common speech. Hence, words like "wow", "okay", "okayno", and "lukhari" have gone.

How to distinguish laksheri from luhari

If we compare things of the category "laksheri" with counterfeits, then the difference in terms becomes obvious. This luhari is, for example, a not very high-quality replica of the branded Birkin bag with a logo in the most prominent place. Necessarily in a paper bag with a logo, so that everyone can see how the lucky owner of a luxury purchase marches through the city.

There is such a caustic expression: "that everything should be rich". Accentuated luxury and thoughtless imitation of the style of celebrities, an attempt to turn themselves into a reflection of a beauty from a glossy magazine - this is the real luhari. The brightest image of the luhari-gurl, perhaps, not so long ago appeared in the video for the song "Exhibit" of the group "Leningrad". As a rule, the manifestations of the style of luhari are categorically out of place, like a lady in an expensive mink coat on a hot beach surrounded by perplexed half-naked tourists.

Consequences of the materialism

The desire to possess fashionable brand things refers to such a phenomenon as "thingism". Sometimes, it is called disease, but more often than not it is simply a thoughtless adherence to fashionable trends and suggestibility. The fashion industry is ruthless towards young and fragile minds, and it can be difficult to stop if you started imitating the stars. Moreover, the absence of branded things is blamed, ridicule begins, even baiting - it all depends on the level of intellectual development of society. People's wisdom "meet on clothes ..." lost its logical continuation ("and escorted through the mind"), and the appearance is sometimes placed at the forefront.

What do you mean luhari in the performance of an ordinary girl from the outback? On the Internet, a video widely spread in which fashion girls are asked where they are from, and the modeled appearance of the girl is answered in a manic manner: "Barvikha Luhari Wilage". "Barvikha Luxury Village" is a shopping and entertainment complex, which is located on the territory of the same prestigious cottage settlement on Rublevskoe highway. It is proud to announce the involvement in the world of the elect - it's so naive and ridiculous that it becomes even pitiful for the figurants of the video, especially if you take into account a wave of malicious and derogatory comments.

The appropriateness of using the word "luhari" in colloquial speech

After it became clear what "Lukhari" means and how this concept differs from "laxheri", a quite reasonable question arises: is it worthwhile to use this word at all? In fact, from such distorted Anglicisms one can crystallize concepts with a somewhat different meaning, enriched and concretized. This is what is happening now with the word we are considering.

At the moment, "lukhari" is not a synonym for "laksheri". This name for a naive human desire to descend for a person involved in a privileged stratum of society, to throw dust in the eye, to impersonate a person of higher social status. The phenomenon is not new and in the classics it occurs quite often: from Khlestakov to Golohvastov.
