Line spacing in the "Word": how to reduce or increase it

Starting typing in the "Word" program, you may encounter such a problem when the space between the lines is quite large. This nuance can greatly spoil the document, making it unaesthetic. Often this can be observed by downloading a document from the Internet. In both cases, the problem is incorrect formatting. In this article we will talk about the line spacing in the "Word": how to reduce or, conversely, increase it. We will tell everything in detail and give three most simple ways, so that everyone will find something for themselves.

The first way: for all versions of the "Word"

As mentioned above, there will be three ways of how to make the line spacing in the "Vord" smaller or larger. They are not very different, but they are not suitable for all versions of the program. Therefore, the first method will be universal, it will be suitable for both the 2003 Vord and for the 2016 version.

Now we will set the default line spacing parameters. This is done so that when you create a new document, you do not change these values every time.

You need to create a new document in the Word. After that, on the "Home" tab, you need to find in the toolbar a graph called "Styles" (it is in the rightmost corner). In this column, click on the icon with the arrow, which is also located in the lower right corner. Once you do this, it seems a small pane with the ability to change the style of the document, but we do not need it. In this panel, at the very bottom, there are three buttons - press the most right.

In the window that opens, you need to go to the "Default" tab. There is a graph "Interval". It is there that you can reduce and increase the spacing in the "Word". In general, use presets in the drop-down list, enter values manually, increase, decrease, until you find the value that suits you. Click the "OK" button after checking the box next to "In new documents that use this template."

The second way: only for new versions of "Vord"

We continue to talk about the line spacing in the "Word". How to reduce or increase it, we have already figured out, but this is just the only way. Now let's move on to the second one. It is intended only for the 2007 program and above. In the "Vord" -2003 he will not work.

You also need to open a blank Vord document, only this time, pay attention not to the "Styles" column, but to the "Paragraph". Click the same icon as the last time - the window with the settings will open. In it you will see the same graph - "Interval", with the same parameters. All you need to do is specify the line spacing in the "Word" (how to reduce it or increase it, you already know).

Then click the button, located at the very bottom - "Default". In the window that opens, select "All documents based on the Normal template". Click "OK" and get to work.

The third way: one click

Now we'll look at how to change the line spacing in the Word in one click. This method works only if you need to change the values in a separate piece of text.

So, in the "Home" tab, in the "Paragraph" section, find the button that is called "Interval". Clicking on it, you will see a list of all available intervals. Choose the interval you like, and it will change in the previously selected text area. Also in the list you can click "Other variants of the line spacing" and the already familiar "Paragraph" window will open.
