Light Lanterns As an Alternative to Electrical Lighting.

In the modern world, electrical energy has become an everyday and something self-evident. People are accustomed to using it thoughtlessly, purely automatically. Understanding that electricity is irreplaceable and firmly entered into our lives arises especially acute when it is disconnected. To produce electricity, along with nuclear and hydroelectric power plants, refinery products are used, which are not cheap at all, especially recently, when the cost per barrel of oil exceeded 100 y. E. We have not yet learned to receive electricity using only the power of wind and sun, so to save minerals we must economize it. Using bulbs can save a lot of electricity, but do not use the daytime electric lighting is entirely allowed by the lights that illuminate the room with sunlight. Natural sunlight has a gentle effect on the eyes of a person, does not cause fatigue, loss of attention as when lighting rooms with any modern lamps.
It is thanks to the fact that light lanterns allow you to save energy and have a beneficial effect on the human body, they are increasingly included in projects for new buildings and structures. Sometimes they are included in the estimate for the repair and finishing of apartments. Not a complicated design of lanterns, consisting of a flat base and a transparent dome, allows them to be mounted in the roof of already constructed buildings. The installation of several anti-aircraft flashlights helps create a translucent roof surface and ensure that enough light enters the room throughout the day.
Light lanterns differ not only in the manner of fastening, but also in the type of material from which the dome is made. There are two types of materials: polycarbonate and acrylic. And the first advantageously differs from acrylic with increased strength. It must be taken into account that the dome must withstand the weight of the snow cover, hail impacts, possible mechanical impact. To increase strength, it is possible to mount a multi-layered dome, which will have increased thermal insulation characteristics. Polycarbonate lantern is an effective protection against ultraviolet radiation.
Light lanterns differ in the manner of mounting on air defense and ridge. Zenith lanterns are located on inclined roof areas to illuminate individual rooms in the building. Ridge lanterns are installed one behind the other along the upper roof rib, on the ridge. This allows you to illuminate all the rooms in the building with sunlight. The base of the lantern should be placed at a height of 30-50 centimeters, which will help not to lose a significant part of the sunlight.
The light lanterns have another function that is the possibility of using them as another exit to the roof. By the methods of opening the passage to the roof, the light lanterns are divided into the following varieties:

  • Automatic way of opening the passage by pressing the button on the control panel;
  • The mechanical method is carried out by turning on and off the toggle switch;
  • A manual opening method, like a conventional window frame;
  • Not opening lanterns.

Installing a flashlight with an opening part can help in the future, not only for easy penetration to the roof surface, but also for rapid airing of the room.
When installing light lanterns, it is important to pay attention to how they fit into the overall appearance of the building. Here it should be noted that the shape of the lanterns may not necessarily be just rectangular and square, there are triangular and octagonal variations. The degree of convexity of the dome is calculated from the angle of incidence of light, the ideal location is perpendicular to the light rays.
The light-transmitting part of the lantern can be either transparent or matte. To give the building an individuality, you can install a colored glass.
Using the energy of the sun, which allows to significantly save electricity, as well as environmental friendliness, make light lanterns more and more in demand in the modern world.
