Lefortovo Prison is one of the most famous investigative isolators in Russia. It was formed at the end of the XIX century. In the past, the prison instilled fear in all those who knew about it. Despite the fact that Lefortovo is located in the heart of the capital, it is not easy to find it. A citizen who does not know anything about this isolator can go around him several times a day and not even think that behind a solid brick wall is a prison.

Short story

Lefortovo prison has existed for more than 130 years. During this time, she went through numerous changes. The first building was erected in 1881 by the architect's design. In Soviet times it was used to keep political prisoners and enemies of the people, many of whom were shot right here.

At the end of the sixties, the prison was closed at the Lubyanka, but the KGB retained the right to manage Lefortovo and used it for prisoners who were opponents of the current regime and suspected of espionage and treason.

From 1990 to 2000, this remand center continued to be used for the same purposes. The opponents of the first Russian president, as well as the defendants in the Yukos case, were here.

Only in 2005, Putin signed a decree that all prisons of the FSB, including Lefortovo, are transferred to the Ministry of Justice.

Features

Lefortovo prison is located almost in the heart of the capital, but no one can enter it, except for law enforcement officers and defenders of the accused. PKU SIZO 2 FIS of Russia is one of those places of isolation from society, about which almost nothing is known and there is no historical information. Therefore, it is possible to learn about the conditions of detention and internal equipment only from those who visited there.

In spite of the fact that this isolator left the FSB in 2005 and moved to the department of the Ministry of Justice, the strict regime and established procedures remain the same as before. Lefortovo prison was erected in 1881. Its main purpose was to keep small officials who were caught in petty hooliganism. But after a while everything changed a lot.

Currently, the prison is subordinated to the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation. If we compare the Lefortovo prison with other SIZOs, then it has rather good conditions for keeping prisoners. At the same time, there is a very strict regime in the isolator. Relatives can not immediately get acquainted with the suspects, in addition, instead of three, the maximum is allowed to communicate only for one hour.

Many citizens, including employees themselves, note the fact that Lefortovo is one of the isolators where drugs or other harmful intoxicating substances will never fall. It is also impossible to transfer a letter or a note to the prison from prison.

Who is in Lefortovo prison?

Currently, there is Colonel Dmitry Zakharchenko, who is a former deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for anti-corruption activities. He was accused of receiving a multimillion-dollar bribe and taken into custody. Now he is in isolation and complains of poor health and pain in the bones. The lawyer is concerned about the state of health of his client.

Here is the colonel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Mikhail Maksimenko. He was the chief of security of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. He was also charged with receiving a large sum of money and taken into custody. He looks thin and pale, because he does not eat anything, although he is well fed in the isolator.

Now in the Lefortovo prison there is also the former governor of the Kirov region Nikita Belykh, who was taken into custody for receiving a large bribe. He also does not eat anything much, because he has diabetes, sits on bread and water, is waiting for the transfer of medicines.

Persons who have been in isolation

At one time, there was a well-known political scientist, writer Eduard Limonov. Until now, he claims that Lefortovo is one of the best prisons in Russia. Earlier here it was more strict than now, but the regime is still preserved.

Also here was Alexey Pichugin, who was the head of the security service of Yukos. He was found guilty of deliberately depriving the lives of four people and two more he could not kill. Now Pichugin is serving a sentence in the form of life imprisonment.

Amirov Said - the politician of Dagestan, was in this isolator, was sentenced to isolation from the society for the rest of his life.

Reception of citizens

Officially, only a few people fled from Lefortovo prison.

In 1994, two prisoners painted the fence of the prison. Waiting until the guards got distracted, they climbed over him. The fugitives were caught the next day.

In March 2005, a 27-year-old Kirghiz, who was convicted of robberies, cleaned the snow on the roof of the SIZO and decided on such a selfless act. He was also detained a few days later. Then several officers of the Lefortovo isolation ward were punished.

In 2001, Deputy Director General of Aeroflot Glushkov was detained, who tried to leave the clinic where he treated a worsening blood disease. Also, two employees of the detention center were arrested, who helped him to plan an escape.

However, such information is not always true, some of the former employees report that there were much more such persons. It's just that not all the data was voiced in the media.

Distinctive features of the prison

Lefortovo SIZO looks like a building in four floors. At the same time, there are 50 cameras on each of them. In total, there are up to two hundred convicts. Only some journalists are allowed into the prison and not all lawyers. There are no relations regarding the transfer of funds between convicts.

In addition, from certain and reliable information there is only the plan of the isolator itself, not all of which consider it fully decorated, since the building has been completed and modified many times.

In the Soviet period, the KGB in general forbade writing anything about this prison. All the information available at that time was simply taken from their authors, and the latter was sent to the insulator itself.

At the present time, the conditions of detention of prisoners are known only from their own mouths. There are two or three people in the cells. In addition, there is a video surveillance system.
