Launch Manager: what it is used for

Unfortunately, today basically only owners of mobile devices know about programs with the general name Launch Manager. In fact, such applications can greatly expand the capabilities of standard operating systems Android, iOS, Blackberry, Windows Phone and many others. But no one thinks that similar applications have been created for stationary systems, and in some cases, they can not be avoided without them.

What is Launch Manager?

Before considering the issue of computer technology, we will make a small digression. Let's start with the very term Launch Manager. What it is, it will be clear if you simply translate the phrase into Russian. Roughly speaking, it means "launch manager".

Therefore, any program of this type refers to applications that are usually called breakers (or launchers, although this is incorrect in terms of transcription).

If to describe such utilities in general, their purpose is to extend the standard capabilities of operating systems by removing hidden controls and access to certain functions of the system in a place convenient for the user. It's no secret that in mobile, and in fixed OS capabilities, which many users simply do not guess, even a dime a dozen.

In some cases, without using specific locks like Launch Manager Acer, access to some key functions, parameters and settings of laptops can not be obtained in principle. Most often this concerns the use of default keyboard shortcuts, for example, to adjust the volume or access some hidden menus.

Mobile devices

In mobile gadgets applications such as Launch Manager work on the same principle: they first completely replace the standard interface of the system, and then group the programs or user files according to some characteristics.

For applications, these are program categories (games, antiviruses, optimizers, management tools, etc.). Sometimes sorting can happen solely by the name of the publisher or developer (Samsung, Sony, Apple). For files - an extension or type (installation distributions, photos, videos, etc.).

Sometimes this can affect the management of the entire system, for example, enabling or disabling any components of autorun.

The most famous and, perhaps, the most popular is the utility APUS, originally developed for Android-systems. What's not here: access to the hidden functions of the operating system, smart grouping of the widgets, control of the battery's charge, the possibility of completely changing the interface, and even the optimization of system processes at the level of cleaning the cache and RAM.

Launch Manager Acer: Additional Features for Laptops

With Acer notebooks, the situation is not so simple. If in other models the same volume control or the Wi-Fi module is turned on by pressing the key indicated in the corresponding icon in combination with Fn, in these devices, in particular on some Acer Aspire models, it is simply impossible to perform such operations without using the installed Launch Manager utility .

And it's not even that the correctly installed application gives you access to certain parameters, here the main place is given to customizing the configuration itself by adding the necessary elements to the launcher's menu. It, however, constantly "hangs" in the system tray, but the consumption of resources is not so great as it might seem to an unsophisticated user.

The main elements and capabilities of programs of this type

Now - just a first look at any Launch Manager. What is it, to define simply (without a difference, for what system it is developed). Here it is worth noting only that in each of them there is a standard set of widgets that allow access to certain functions.

What such toolkit depends entirely on the software developer. But at the heart of it there are several mandatory elements like a volume control, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth switch, video mode settings and screen brightness or the use of so-called energy saving mode (ECO).

Basics of Application Management

Managing menu items, as well as displaying the available functions, is quite simple. The same fairly specific Launch Manager for Windows 7 (Windows 7 Manager) only at first glance seems too tricky.

In fact, there is nothing complicated in it. A simple, intuitive interface in which all functions are grouped into categories in the menu on the left or right, while the additional windows display the current information or setting (in different programs, the menus differ, but the essence is the same).

But such software products allow you to use not only the standard capabilities of all applications of this type. Since they were developed directly under the seventh version of Windows, you can get access to the system information, and to manage the auto start, and to restore the system. In addition, these utilities can also perform the role of optimizers, removing unnecessary files or unused programs, or freeing system resources by unloading them from RAM, not to mention full control of network connections or the use of security modules.

How to enable or disable programs of this type

As a rule, in some laptops such utilities are factory installed. You can remove them using the standard program and component part. But is it necessary to do this? After all, in some critical cases, they may be needed.

There is nothing easier than just using the right click on the application icon in the system tray, where the exit line (Exit, Exit Program, etc.) is selected from the drop-down menu. The program Launch Manager itself will simply shut down, but will not be deleted.

But when the system is rebooted, it will start again. If you want to disable this service altogether, you should use the standard tools of the system (and not the application itself). In this case, it's about changing the autostart configuration, which is accessed using the msconfig command, which is specified in the "Run" menu (Win + R).

When you sign in, you select the Startup tab, where a checkmark is simply removed from the launcher service. After that, the system must necessarily be rebooted for the changes to take effect.

Complete removal: possible consequences

Another, last, look at applications such as Launch Manager. What it is, many already understand. Finally, a few words about the possible uninstallation.

If the program is "wired" (installed by default initially, as for Acer notebooks), it is not recommended to touch it at all. If such a utility was installed on the user's own initiative, the removal should not be done using standard system tools, but with at least free applications like iObit Uninstaller. Their advantages include the fact that they remove not only the software components of the desired application, but also the residual garbage files, as well as registry entries and keys.

It is important to remember that due to the removal of the management utility, some standard features of computer devices may be completely blocked or inaccessible.

Conclusion

In general, if we talk about the advisability of using such applications in daily work, the opinions of users differ. If a device without such a program can not access certain functions, it simply has to be left. Otherwise it's just some kind of additional tool, convenient or uncomfortable, necessary or not (everyone decides for himself). But by and large the system is better not to clutter up, if this is not absolutely necessary.

Although such applications consume very few resources, they are also able to conflict with the components of the operating systems themselves, which often leads to the appearance of "blue screens". And the specific drivers are not talking at all. So think a hundred times before deciding to install this type of software package.
