The number of available rivers in Belarus is explained by the fact that the Black Sea-Baltic watershed is located on its territory. It covers the area of Polissya, Kopylskiy ridge, Orsha and Minsk heights. The valleys of all watercourses occupy about 10% of the entire territory of the state. Lakes and rivers of Belarus Are in different pools. For example, most of the rivers belong to the Black Sea, the smaller part to the Baltic Sea. And the main part of the lakes is located in the basin of the Western Dvina.

The flow of rivers here is not strong. It varies from 0.1 to 1.5 m / s. Usually, the minimum speed is observed during the period of intergeneration, the maximum - during the flood, as well as the water level. Almost all the rivers of the state have an elevated water level, and in winter, on the contrary, is reduced to a critical point.

Its size can boast such a beautiful river, as Berezina. It is the first in length in the country. This watercourse, like some other lakes and rivers of Belarus, originates in one of the state reserves. The mouth of the stream is the Dnieper. Berezina has several tributaries. The largest right is Svisloch, the left one is Bobr. On the banks of the river were built settlements, some of them were named after Berezina.

Thanks to the battle on this river in 1812, it became an important historical object. At that time, a powerful France, whose army had suffered losses, retreated. The name of the watercourse literally means "disaster" or "disaster".
