Lake Selyava - rest in the Republic of Belarus

Location and natural features

Lake Selyava, a photo of which can be viewed in the article, is located in the north-east of Belarus, in the Krupsky district of the Minsk region. It is fluid, fed by the rivers Vysokoe and Rakitovka and is connected by a wide channel with the Obid water reservoir. Selyava is one of the most beautiful and largest lakes in Belarus (the ninth place in terms of water volume!), Its area is 15 square kilometers, the depth is 19 meters. The bottom of the reservoir is covered with sand mixed with shallow river pebbles, but silt is also found. In the center of the lake there are three islands. The coastal zone is embossed, forming a large number of bays, coves and capes. The shores are mostly marshy, from the north and south they are exalted, covered with bushes and a rare woodland. The water in the lake is light, in summer the transparency is more than two meters.

Flora and fauna

Lake Selyava is distinguished by a clean water surface, which does not overgrow with algae and duckweed. Along the coast you can find thickets of reeds, reeds and sedge, in bays and backwaters - yellow water lilies, ayr and egg capsules. Since 1993, a state reserve has been established on the lake's base, where more than 40 species of animals live, such as badgers, wolves, hares, bears, and 100 representatives of birds, waterfowl and forest. On the lake surface have found their place herons, snipe, wild geese and ducks, cranes. In the coastal burrows there are muskrats, dams are being built.

Rare plants are found in the region of the lake, which are listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Belarus. The surrounding area is rich in mushrooms - chanterelles, mushrooms, boletuses, boletuses, mushrooms, poderezozikov, mushrooms. Often there are berry places (blueberries, raspberries, cranberries, currants).

Myth or reality?

About the lake Selyava local residents tell a legend: as if on August 28, 1942 over the lake was shot down an American aircraft Pe-8, which carried on its board in the UK four tons of gold. Why is the lake named "Selyava"? What does this word mean? There are two theories.

According to the first version, the reservoir received its name due to the merchant family of Selyavichs, who possessed huge tracts of land, where the lake also fell. The second version says that the name of the reservoir is due to the fish - the vendace, which lives in large numbers in its waters. Belarusians call it "Selyava".

Fishing

Lake Selyava, besides the vendace, is rich in about 15 species of fish: reddish, carassel, pike, bream, ruff, gudgeon, perch, roach, catfish, tusk, spike, burbot, broom, linem and yazem. The place is lured, therefore, according to the aborigines, excellent biting stands at any time of the year.

Rest on Selyava lake

The stunning beauty and healing air of Lake Selyava make it an excellent resting place. Specially designed for tourists built agrarian landscapes - wooden two-story houses, designed for eight to ten people. The living rooms are equipped with a fireplace and a modern stereo system. Lake Selyava - how to get there?

Let's suggest several options for how to get to the wonderful pond.

  1. By train or bus from Minsk to the city of Krupki. Further a few kilometers to get on foot or call a taxi. Before departure it is necessary to specify the schedule of transport.
  2. Order a transfer. Meeting at the airport, at the train or bus. It is necessary to discuss the date of arrival, time and cost of the trip in advance.
  3. By private car. On the highway Brest-Moscow (M1) go to the signpost of the city of Krupki. Turn right, go round the village of Krupsky, call at Krupki. Focusing on the sign "40", go up the mountain and turn left, at the pointer "Proshika 19". Then move 19 km along the main road. At the entrance to the village of Proshik, orient yourself towards the signs.
