Caring for a mysterious English patient, Hannah gradually learns about his past, individual memories are formed into a single whole, like a mosaic.

Actors and the film crew were awarded 9 Oscar statuettes (total number of nominations - 12), two Golden Globes and six awards of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, as well as the award of the Berlin Film Festival and the European Film Academy.
