About 9 square kilometers - this is the area occupied by the lake. At the same time, the maximum depth of its hollow does not exceed one and a half meters. The word "chokrak" is translated from the Crimean Tatar language as a "spring". And this is not accidental: powerful sources of mineral waters emerge on the bottom of the reservoir and along its banks. However, the Chokrak Lake is more famous for its mud today. By the way, the healing properties of the Chokrak waters and mud were known even in the first century BC! Even then they were not only successfully used on the spot, but also supplied to the Ancient Hellas.

Chokrak Lake: where and how to get there?

The lake is in the eastern part of the Crimea peninsula. The nearest village is the village with the corresponding name Kurortnoe. And in twenty kilometers - a large city of Kerch. Chokrak Lake annually attracts a huge number of holidaymakers. Especially in the summer.

The resort is located in Leninsky district of Crimea. From the Kerch bus station buses are sent here every thirty minutes. You can get to the lake and by yourself, by car. Surroundings of Chokrak: interesting places and sights

The surroundings of the lake are very picturesque and interesting. First of all, it is worth mentioning the so-called General beaches (or the coast of a thousand bays, as it is also called). This is a series of wonderful sandy beaches, rocky cliffs and cozy bays. These places strikingly attract yogis, esotericists and simply creative personalities. The shoreline of the General beaches is fairly rugged. Therefore, you can swim under the arched rocky arches and even find small grottoes. The water in the bays, as a rule, is very fast in the summer and warms up well.

There is a mountain of Ararat near Lake Chokraksky . It is, however, much lower than its Armenian namesake. Its height is 175 meters. The mountain is located five kilometers south of the lake. In the relief - this is a pronounced plateau-shaped massif, entirely covered with shrubs and herbs.
