The only university in the country where specialists are trained for the linen industry, machine building, light and textile industries, for the forest complex for more than eighty years, is the Kostroma State Technological University. Start

In November 1931, the People's Commissar of Light Industry and the State Planning Committee of the RSFSR opened a textile institute in Kostroma. In the building along Dzerzhinsky Street, where he settled down, there used to be a diocesan school, then technical schools: forestry, land management, linen and meliorative.

They became the basis for the functioning of the new educational institution. Years later, after passing through many renaming, the institute received today's name - Kostroma State Technological University. This happened in 1995.

History

The history of this university is very interesting: from the Kostroma Textile Institute in 1962 the Institute of Technology grew up, and in 1982 he was awarded for the good training of specialists by the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, and by 1995 he had become the Kostroma State Technological University. KSTU - the first years

In the first years, both day and evening departments were attended by only 200 people, and after a natural five-year dropout, only 72 graduates received diplomas. The level of preparation was weak, the entrants avoided the institute side. Several times the question arose about the closure of this educational institution, but each time it was possible to defend it. Before the war, the number of graduates reached 570. Then there was a war that abruptly changed all the plans of both students and teachers. A huge part of them went to war, the rest got behind the machines. Two rifle companies were formed entirely of volunteers from the Kostroma Institute and went to beat the enemy.

And in the building there are military hospitals. The lessons were still conducted - in the shops of enterprises, in the auxiliary rooms, when it was not necessary to harvest firewood and peat, build railroad tracks to Galich, an airfield in Kostroma and defensive lines on the Volga. In addition, almost always had to unload carriages and, on the contrary, send all kinds of goods, harvest crops in the nearest villages, sew uniforms and solve many other urgent tasks: parcels to gather to the front, concert before the wounded, take care of them, letters to help them write. The high authority of KSTU grew gradually, as a result of the work of the whole team of employees, teachers, students, for many, many decades. Here 7000 students and post-graduate students study at the same time, more than a thousand employees and teachers carry their knowledge and skills. Eight educational buildings, equipped with the latest scientific and technical equipment, receive students, five hostels create them decent comfort and all conveniences to prepare for classes, a dispensary is created to strengthen the health of students and employees, there is a kindergarten, and a sports camp. All these conditions are created in order for the university to flourish, so that a healthy, strong, creative team will continue to live under the sign of a reliable present and confident future, since it is for this that the Kostroma State Technological University is fighting.

Military Department

Nevertheless, in 1944 the institute moved to the building, where the Kostroma State Technological University is located. The photo shows us this building in its modern form. Entered in 1945 in the Institute and began to train 430 students. Four professors and 16 assistant professors started their work, and only 52 teachers. The rest did not return from the war ... 122 of the teaching staff died heroically, defending the right of the country to live.

At the same time, in 1945, the military department was opened in the Institute. It is still training and training reserve officers - first commanders of combined arms platoons, then officers of the stock of the logistics service of the rear of the Armed Forces. More than seven thousand people, thus, prepared the Kostroma State Technological University.

Faculties

The post-war years were also marked by all sorts of interesting events. Teachers and students demobilized from the Soviet Union began to return to the institute from the war. The set was completed and overfulfilled. Fascinated by military glory, decorated with decorations, among them were even Stalin's fellows, former partisans, signalmen, artillerymen ... Forty people returned. The rest were lost. They remembered by name all those who managed to continue their studies. And studies began this year only at two faculties - mechanical and technological. Here, machines and machines for the light and textile industries were studied and improved.

Then the faculties were added, and in 1962 the institute could rightly be called a technological one - for the first time graduates received diplomas in wood processing technologies, and in 1965 - machine engineers, specialists in metal cutting tools and machines, integrated mechanization and automation of chemical-technological processes. The Institute receives the right to a scientific council for the protection of dissertations. In 1969 the first specialists of the forest engineering faculty were graduated, and in 1971 - the faculties of the economic and industrial consumer goods industry gave a way to life for their pets.

Time wins

The Institute was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor in 1982, at the same time a museum was opened, where the history of the institute was presented consistently and in all its manifestations. In 1987, new faculties graduated specialists in economic analysis and accounting, and in 1994, a doctorate was opened. In 1999, the university, already Kostroma State Technological University, has significantly multiplied its specialties: trained specialists in knitwear technologies, CAD, and artistic processing of materials.

Now there are five faculties: technological, mechanical, humanitarian, forest mechanic, faculty of automated systems and technologies. In addition, there are three institutions in the structure of the university: the legal one, the management of economy and finance, additional vocational education, and also there is a military department and a pre-university training center.
