Kabardino-Balkaria Republic: the capital and sights

Mountains, shepherds, herds of sheep - for middle-class Russians it's a real exotica. It's no surprise that the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (CBD) is one of the most popular places in domestic tourism . The Caucasian mountains attract travelers with their beauty and mystery, and the subject increasingly attracts the attention of investors.

Historical digression

The peoples who lived on the modern territory of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic were known in ancient times. Historians who lived before our era wrote about them. However, more or less completely ethnic composition was formed only in the Middle Ages, and in the 19th century this land became part of Russia. In its current borders it has been in existence since 1921 and is called the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic.

The capital Nalchik began its development with a small fortress built in 1818. The first information about the settlement in this area belongs to the XVIII century, and in 1921 it received the status of the city and simultaneously the capital of the republic. During the war, he was seriously injured, but immediately after liberation, the restoration of buildings and normal life began. Nevertheless, the troubles of the local peoples did not end there. In 1944, the deportation of Balkarians to Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan for the purpose of transferring part of the land for military needs of Georgia began.

In general, this city developed like any other: new enterprises were created, and lasting economic ties were gradually formed. And after the collapse of the USSR, all this had to be rebuilt. Despite the relative proximity to the so-called "hot spots", the entire Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, the capital and the largest cities remain sufficiently prosperous in terms of terrorist threats. The most significant incidents are the incidents that occurred in 2005 and 2011.

Modernity

Today the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, the capital and largest city of which is still Nalchik, is an important subject of the Russian Federation in terms of recreational, ecological, forest resources. This is an important agricultural center, while actively developing infrastructure and services in recent years. In addition, the region has an amazing original culture, preserves the state languages, besides Russian, the languages of the titular nations.

On its territory the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic contains the highest peak of Russia - Elbrus. As a rule, this mountain, in view of the diffuse border between Asia and Europe, is also referred to the famous list of the "Seven Peaks", sometimes replacing it with Mont Blanc. In addition, there are also six so-called "five-thousanders", attracting a huge number of climbers.

In recent years, the capital of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (Nalchik) is experiencing a gradual, but constant outflow of the population, as well as the subject as a whole. Now about 850 thousand people live in this region, about half of them are Kabardians.

sights

Since the active development of the city began relatively recently, very old buildings and examples of architecture can not be found here. But this does not mean that the capital of the Kabardino-Balkaria Republic is completely uninteresting, and there is absolutely nothing to look at in the entire region. The most popular tourist place in Nalchik is the park. Here is the building of the famous restaurant "Sosruko", built in the form of a hero's head popular with local residents of the legend. Even in the city there is evidence that people lived here long before our era - a burial ground, which are many in the North Caucasus.

If we talk about how interesting the Kabardino-Balkaria Republic as a whole is, the first thing that comes to mind is, of course, mountains. Almost all the sights are connected with the landscape: high peaks, picturesque gorges, lakes, waterfalls, parks. Perhaps, indeed, for tourists the most interesting here is nature.

First, you can not ignore Elbrus and the adjacent territories, which are reserved. In the same area is the extremely popular Baksan Gorge, where hundreds and thousands of tourists come every year.

Another destination that attracts travelers to the CBD is the Cherek Gorge. In front of it are the famous Blue Lakes, as well as the equally popular Missing Lake, which is now a funnel with almost vertical walls, at the bottom of which you can find a pond. In the very gorge, tourists must visit the Chegem waterfalls. In addition, in the very gorge there is a large number of ancient buildings, ruins of auls, fortresses, etc. In general, there will not be bored.

Culture

Of course, one can not ignore the intangible heritage that the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic is rich in. The capital, of course, is not a place where people can be seen on the streets in national costumes and horses, but here and there you can see it. Despite the fact that much was lost in the Soviet times, customs and rituals, which for hundreds of years constituted the life of local nationalities, are being restored and re-circulated. Many of them are inextricably linked with agriculture and the life cycle, as well as family holidays. Vocal art, folk crafts are revived, festivals are held regularly.

Economy

Traditionally, local economy is built on agriculture. There are also large industrial enterprises, but, like almost everywhere in Russia, they have been in a state of stagnation in recent decades. The service industry is in the process of formation. Perhaps, we can speak about any serious development only in the energy sector.

In recent years, as part of the program for the development of infrastructure and support of small enterprises on the basis of Kabardino-Balkaria, the creation of special business incubators began. One of them is located in the capital, the other - in the second most populous city, the Cool. The third one is in the Baksansky district.

Investment climate

Already mentioned business incubators are helping start-up entrepreneurs, including in providing suitable production facilities. The property of the Kabardino-Balkaria Republic (CBD) has sufficient potential for the development of the business environment. But the country does not stop there.

Not so long ago, the newly elected head of the KBR, her native Yuri Kokov, is building his policy of developing the region fairly evenly, affecting all major industries. He is engaged in the development of infrastructure, social sphere and, of course, industry and services.

Not so long ago, a special program was launched under the title "Investment Passport of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic", which is multitasking. In accordance with this plan, potential sources of capital can receive a variety of relevant information about the economic condition of the subject, possible interesting areas, the business environment in general.

Problems

The main difficulty of the CBD, like many other subjects of the Russian Federation, is the difficulty of attracting investments. The problem of outflow of population, which has become actual in the last few years, is superimposed on this. Strong dependence on the federal budget and proximity to the points of regular conflicts also does not make life easier. Together, this forms a whole complex of interrelated problems not only in Kabardino-Balkaria, but in the entire North Caucasus as a whole. Nevertheless, this region has a huge potential.

Development prospects

In general, the Kabardino-Balkar Republic, the capital, large settlements and the south-western part of the Elbrus region are potentially quite interesting for investors. The whole region has great chances to become an extremely popular ski resort and a great place for ecological, gastronomic, therapeutic and health, cultural and many other kinds of tourism.

This, however, does not put an end to other sectors of the economy. Reasonable investment of investments and federal subsidies can help a person literally "blossom". A bad management - to bring to naught all the local advantages.
