Japanese Empress Mitiko

The Japanese Empress Mitiko (born Oct. 20, 1934) is the wife of the current Emperor Akihito. She is the only girl of non-common origin, who was able to break the dynastic stereotypes of the Land of the Rising Sun and enter the ruling family by marrying the Crown Prince.

Family of Seda

The family of Mitiko is still known in Japan and is revered in both industrial and scientific circles. The girl's father, Hideasaburo Syoda, was the president of a large company in Tokyo, engaged in grinding flour. About Fumiko, the mother of the future Empress, there is very little information in RuNet, but one can assume that she was a housewife and was engaged in the upbringing of children who were four in the family.

The family of Syod is quite rich, therefore Mitiko's early childhood was cloudless, the girl needed nothing.

World War II

The war caught Mitiko at a young age, when she was still at Funab's elementary school in Tokyo. The family decided to send Fumiko and the children away from the city for their safety. So, the future Empress of Japan Mitiko moved to the mountains with her younger brother and sister, and her father and older brother stayed in Tokyo.

Here, the girl had to learn what hard work and responsibilities, the fulfillment of which can not be avoided. Mitiko had to work a lot: to cultivate silkworms, mow the grass for fertilizers and daily to carry 4 kg of leaves to school to dry them.

She also took care of her younger brother, who at that time still needed milk, but Fumiko could no longer feed him. Because of this, the schoolgirl had to buy goat's milk, but the times were hard, and it was not always possible to do this. However, this problem was solved by Fumiko herself by buying a goat, taking off from her shoulders at least a tiny part of her duties.

Perhaps, it is because of the difficult period experienced that the Empress Mitiko so strongly sympathizes with the people of Japan, who consider her to be very empathic and open, devoid of that pathos that is inherent in all the representatives of the nobility.

Postwar years

As soon as the war was over, Mitiko was able to return to her hometown and continue her studies first in school, then at the University of Tokyo, becoming the leader of the student movement. In the release, the girl was recognized as the best, which cost her considerable work. After all, the University of Tokyo - still one of the most prestigious educational institutions, which gathers under its roof not only rich, but also the most stubborn, ambitious and talented young men and women from all over the country.

The obstinacy manifested at that time, willpower and extraordinary abilities later helped the graduate. Thanks to them, the Empress Mitiko, whose photo is presented below, was able to survive other hardships and successfully enter the palace without disgracing her family.

Meeting with Akihito and marriage

For the first time a graduate of the University of Tokyo and Crown Prince of the ruling dynasty met in 1957 on the tennis court of one of the Japanese resorts. Since then, between Akihito and Mitiko, a romance has begun, lasting about a year and stirring up all the inhabitants of the imperial court.

However, nothing surprising that the young prince liked his future wife, because the Empress Mitiko in her youth was a very beautiful girl, and her staunch character of a true Japanese woman could not remain without attention.

The family of Akihito did not approve of his choice, since before the war the emperor of Japan was considered to be the living embodiment of God, and the noble origin of his wife was not even discussed, being an obligatory and indisputable condition of marriage.

In favor of Mitiko, the new orders established after 1945, which abolished polygamy of the ruler and the institution of concubines, also played a role. Therefore, after the ultimatum delivered by Akihito, who does not want to marry anyone else, except for the current one, everything resolved itself, because the imperial family had to continue. Thus, the wedding was approved and a wedding was held, which took place on April 10, 1959.

Universal recognition

Strangely enough, ordinary citizens of the country supported the marriage of love. Moreover, the future Empress Mitiko became the idol of the whole of Japan, although a few critics urged not only to break this union, but also to forbid similar ones in the legislative order.

The wedding of the favorites of the Land of the Rising Sun caused a kind of "technological boom", consisting in the mass production of television sets. All this was for the people of Japan to be able to see this joyful event without leaving home.

But so cloudless was life only outside the imperial palace. Akihito's choice was extremely upsetting to his mother, because for a very long time Mitiko had not heard from her anything but reproaches. This led to a severe depression, from which the girl was rescued at the imperial dacha in Hayama. However, she managed to overcome herself and with her husband began to regularly visit his parents, ruling the country at that time.

Then the ex-leader of the student movement began to appear at receptions and simply in crowded places, communicating with the people and winning his trust by their simplicity and optimism.

The Empress Mitiko

To date, Mitiko is the mother of three already grown-up children. Her first-born Naruhito was born in the distant 1960, followed five years later by Akashino, and three years later by Princess Sayako.

Despite the high position, Prince Akihito and his wife Mitiko led a deliberately normal life. The woman herself fed and raised her children, abandoning the nannies, and her husband took the example from his wife, personally engaged in sons and daughter. The couple demonstratively lived in full view of all, not abhorring the press, because the newspapers were full of photos and articles about the future imperial couple. Readers knew about them everything: from the style of clothing to the attitudes of life.

After the death of Emperor Hirohito in 1989, the Crown Prince took his place, taking the reins in his own hands. To date, Mitiko and Akihito have been together for more than 50 years. In his interviews, the emperor often mentions how grateful his wife is for understanding, supporting and creating harmony around.

Recently, the couple appears in public infrequently, because they perform only nominal functions, the real power of Japan has long been in the hands of the Cabinet. However, for the subjects of Akihito and Mitiko are still an unshakable authority and symbol of the unity of the country.
