Olympic Games: a short digression into the history

The Olympic Games originated in Ancient Greece somewhere around the 8th century BC. They were part of a religious cult dedicated to the Greek gods, according to the legend inhabiting the sacred for the Greeks Mount Olympus (hence the name of these sports competitions). The Olympic Games of the ancient Greek period number about 293 games (from 776 BC to 394 AD). Of course, in those distant times they included only a few sports, but nevertheless were a large-scale sport event for this period.

Modern Olympic Games

Second life Olympic games were in 1896, when the French public figure proposed to revive the tradition held in the ancient world of sports. It was then decided that these games will be held every four years. Since 1924, the Winter Olympic Games have also been introduced. To organize this grand event in Paris, the Olympic Charter and the IOC were created. This organization for many years ahead determines where the Olympics will be held. 2020, for example, will invite all sports fans to summer games in Tokyo. This was decided last year for 9-10 years before the games. By the way, the place where the Olympic Games will be held is not a country, but a conclave city. But back in 1896, when the charter was created. According to its charter, the Olympic Games had to unite athletes from all over the world, all races and countries for conducting equal and fair competitions.

Summer Olympics 2020

The 2016 games in Brazil have not been held yet, and everyone is already talking about the Olympics in Tokyo, the capital of the Land of the Rising Sun. They are accounted for thirty-second. Before determining where the Olympics 2020 will be held, until the end of summer 2011 many European, Asian and American countries have submitted applications that they are ready to become a host. After that, the International Olympic Committee had to do a great job, namely, to analyze the opportunities, conditions and resources of a country and identify the main candidates for the thirty-second Olympic Games. They were the capital of Spain - Madrid, the capital of Japan - Tokyo, the Turkish port city of Istanbul, the capital of Azerbaijan - Baku and the capital of Qatar - the city of Doha. The last two dropped out of the list of major candidates on May 24, 2013. Thus, only three candidates remained. "So where will the summer Olympics 2020 be?" - this question interested many, especially the inhabitants of these three cities. However, to give an accurate answer to this question became possible only on September 7, 2013. It was on that day that the method of voting at the regular session of the Olympic Committee in Argentina was to determine the capital of the most grandiose sports event. And it became Tokyo. The capital of Japan received 42 votes, while Madrid and Istanbul - 26 votes each. For the first time in this city, the 1964 Olympics took place. 56 years later, the Olympic flame will again light up under the sky of Tokyo, announcing the start of the thirty-second Olympic Games. Soon after, all the world's mass media trumpeted where the Olympics-2020 will be held. Of course, the residents of the Japanese capital rejoiced, because they will witness one of the most important sporting events.
