Instruction of Espumizan: appointment, use and contraindications

Increased gas formation occurs in many people. Some experience temporary symptoms, others have a permanent or prolonged problem. But in that, and in another case, you can not do without the use of special drugs that reduce gas formation and the phenomenon of flatulence.

Medication Espumizan belongs to the group of carminative drugs. Instruction "Espumizana" characterizes it as a means aimed at reducing gas generation and foam in the digestive tract.

Indications for use

Despite the fact that the drug "Espumizan" is sold in pharmacies without a prescription, it is necessary to consult a doctor before use. Indication for the purpose of this remedy may include the following symptoms and diseases:

  • Flatulence (bloating, arising for a variety of reasons, for example, due to eating food, causing increased gas formation, or in the postoperative period, against the background of taking antibiotics, etc.);
  • Preoperative or diagnostic studies in which gas bubbles prevent an accurate picture and make diagnosis difficult;
  • Aerophagia (ingestion of excess air and eructation);
  • Dyspepsia (common name for a number of problems that cause intestinal dysfunction, putrefactive phenomena, fermentation, belching, heartburn, nausea, heaviness in the stomach);
  • Remkheld's syndrome (a complex of cardiovascular changes that arise due to the elevation of the diaphragm with a full stomach);
  • Poisoning with detergents (Espumizan is an effective defoamer);
  • The need to obtain a double contrast image in endoscopy (in this case, the drug in the form of a suspension is an additive to the contrast medium).

Operating principle

The drug Espumizan differs from natural carminative agents, which include fennel, dill and parsley decoctions. Folk remedies act at the expense of reducing spasm in the musculature of the intestine, as a result of which its activity increases, and gases are removed naturally.

The principle of the Espumizan preparation is different. It, just like natural remedies, reduces the spasm in the intestines slightly, but at the same time it acts as a defoamer. That is, the drug destroys the envelope of gas bubbles, as a result of which they merge and are partially absorbed, and partially outward in a natural way. Another tool forms a film on the walls of the intestine, which is the prevention of chronic colitis.

The drug Espumizan is absolutely non-toxic and is excreted from the body in an unchanged form.

Medicinal forms of the preparation "Espumizan"

The medication is available in two forms: capsules and emulsions for internal use. In one capsule contains 40 mg of the main medicinal component - simethicone. As auxiliary substances in the composition include methyl-4-hydroxybenzoate, glycerin and two dyes - E104 and E110. Soft yellow capsules are packed in blisters of 25 pcs., Blisters are folded into a cardboard box - 1, 2 or 4 pcs.

Emulsion (syrup) "Espumizan" contains 40 mg of simethicone in every 5 ml. The composition of the drug includes a number of auxiliary substances, including banana flavor, as this dosage form is intended for children. The drug is sold in dark glass bottles, which are in a cardboard box. The box is designed for one bottle with 100 ml of emulsion. The syrup looks like a colorless or almost colorless (slightly white) turbid liquid.

The preparation "Espumizan": instructions for use (tablets)

The drug should be taken orally, during or immediately after a meal. If necessary, you can take the drug at night. Tablets can be administered from the age of six, this is due to the difficulty of swallowing. Instruction "Espumizana" contains information about the dosages of the drug:

  • 2 capsules for adults;
  • 1-2 for children from 6 to 14 years.

In most cases, a single application of the drug is enough to get rid of bloating and the phenomena of flatulence. However, if necessary, the tablet can be used for a long time, the frequency of reception 3-5 times a day.

The preparation "Espumizan" (syrup): instructions for use

The preparation in the form of an emulsion is used much more widely. It is prescribed to adults (80 mg or 2 teaspoons at a time), children (1-2 scoops) and infants (1 teaspoon) with flatulence, bloating, colic and before radiography and ultrasound. Children from the first year of life and up to 6 years of age, the drug is prescribed only in the form of an emulsion.

For studies where it is necessary to obtain a double contrast image, in 1 liter of contrast add 20-40 ml of Espumizan. In cases of poisoning with detergents, the drug is administered orally 50-100 ml to an adult and 10-50 ml to a child. The exact dosage depends on the severity of the poisoning.

The emulsion must be taken after or immediately during meals. Breast children can receive the drug immediately with food: from a bottle with a mixture or with a drink.

Contraindications

Instruction of Espumizan informs that this drug is absolutely safe, except for cases of individual intolerance of the components of the drug, the appearance of an allergic reaction of the body and intestinal obstruction.

Cases of drug overdose are not fixed. Do not use this medication in combination with other medicines. But not because such a combination can adversely affect the human body. It simply blocks the absorption of other drugs, and their use is ineffective. After taking Espomizan, it should take at least 3-4 hours before taking other medications.

It is not recommended to take the drug at the same time with drugs that reduce acidity in the stomach (drugs "Almagel", "Maalox", "Gastal", etc.).

The use of Espumizane during pregnancy

During pregnancy, many women suffer from excessive gas formation. Even if there have been no similar problems before, increased flatulence and swelling may appear due to changes in the body (changes in diet, displacement of internal organs due to uterine enlargement, etc.). Therefore, during pregnancy, there is a need to take a drug that effectively, but safely, relieves increased gas production. And as a remedy, Espumizan may well be used. It is not absorbed by the digestive tract and is completely excreted by the body in an unchanged form. However, it must be taken into account that the drug can cause allergic reactions, so you need to carefully read the composition. Pregnant often prescribe the drug "Espumizan" in the form of an emulsion. This is due to the fact that the capsules contain dyes, which for some people are strong allergens. Before using the product, you need to get a consultation with a doctor who observes pregnancy.

Is it possible to give Espumizan to a newborn?

Infants often experience discomfort in the intestines, bloating and colic. The child begins to cry, shout, jerk legs. The emergence of these problems is associated with the fact that the baby's stomach has just started to function and temporarily does poorly coping with its functions. As a help to a newborn with bloating and colic, doctors recommend making a light massage in the peripump region, and also laying the baby on the stomach.

If these methods do not work, then the doctor can prescribe Espumizan, which gently, safely and effectively relieves the child of unpleasant sensations.

However, it must be remembered that this drug is a medicine, so do not give it to your child without consulting a doctor or yourself as a prophylactic for a long period.

The use of Espumizan in diagnostic studies

During the radiography, endoscopy and ultrasound of the abdominal cavity, gas bubbles disrupt the visibility of the area under investigation, which leads to difficulty in making the diagnosis.

When using Espumizan, the result during the studies is more reliable, since the emulsion ensures continuous spreading of the contrast fluid along the gastrointestinal mucosa without breaks caused by excessive gas formation.

Instruction "Espumizana" contains detailed information about the dosages of the drug for adults and children with preoperative and diagnostic tests, but in any case it is necessary to know the opinion of the doctor. Depending on a number of factors, he can increase or decrease the dosage or completely abandon his appointment to the patient.

The drug Espumizan is one of the most effective drugs aimed at removing the phenomena of flatulence. This is indicated not only by the numerous positive responses of patients, but also by the testimonies of competent specialists.
