Installation of furniture loops: types of fittings, purpose and installation rules

Kinds of furniture

Installation of furniture loops begins with the correct selection of elements. Such a need can arise when furniture is made to order, but the assembly is already produced by the owner himself. Regardless of the type of loop, it will have mandatory components:

- a cup;

- mounting plate;

- "shoulder".

As for the types of loops, there are four:

1. Overhead loops can be found everywhere, they are also called "frogs". The opening angle of such a loop is 90-165 degrees.

2. Semi-folding loops have a bend at the base.

3. The corner hinges enable the door to be opened at an angle of 30 to 175 degrees.

4. Internal loops differ in curved shape.

Each type of furniture fittings should be selected in accordance with the existing furniture facade.

Where furniture loops are used

As already mentioned above, furniture fittings have 4 types of hinges, while each has its own purpose:

1. An overlay loop is installed when the facade completely covers the outermost grooves.
2. Semi-folding fittings are used in the case where one side wall has two flaps.
3. Installation of furniture loops of angular types is carried out if necessary to give the door a position at a certain angle.
4. Some models of the furniture set have internal doors that are attached from the inside. In this case, the side walls remain open.

We examined the purpose of the most common types of loops. In the expensive refined furniture can be used and more complex models of loop fittings.

Instruments

Installation of furniture loops begins with the preparation of the necessary tool. For this job, you will need the following package:

- a set of loops;

- a ruler or a building level for marking;

- a simple pencil;

- Drill and screwdriver;

- End mill with a diameter of 3.5 cm;

- Screws.

These accessories will help to make accurate marking and installation of furniture fittings.

Calculating the number of elements

Installation of furniture loops with their own hands begins with the marking. At this stage accuracy is very important, otherwise the product will not have a neat appearance. First of all, you need to measure the height of the flaps with which you will have to work. Installation of furniture loops, the size of which should be selected for furniture dimensions, is calculated with one piece for every 0.5 m of the height of the door. However, if the shutters are less than a meter in size, you must hang at least two loops so that the product has an even appearance.

In the process of purchasing hardware, you should think about the load that will be provided on the hinges, that is, to calculate how often the door will open and close the headset. For kitchen furniture, for example, you can buy accessories with door closers.

Markup Process

The center of the hole under the loop should be located at a distance of 7-12 cm from the top or bottom edge of the door. To the side edge, the distance should be 2.1-2.2 cm. Do not forget about the possibility of installing shelves. They should not be looped, otherwise the cabinet doors can not be closed.

Using a ruler from the top and bottom end measure 7-12 cm, the obtained points are fixed with a pencil. On the formed line, a distance of about 2.1-2.2 cm is measured to the inner edge of the door, after which marks are also produced. As a result, there must be two currents in which one vertical and two horizontal lines intersect. These marks serve as the center of the hole in which the loop cup will be laid. It is recommended to allocate them with a nail, just a little digging a small depression.

Remember that for every 50 cm there must be one such hole, that is, for doors longer than a meter, you need to calculate more blanks.

Mounting accessories

The installation of furniture overhead loops is as follows:

1. Using a drill with a milling cutter, a hole is drilled under the loop cup. For this purpose, the nail marks were previously made. For the work to be done as precisely as possible, it is recommended to place the door on a solid horizontal base and fix it there. The cutter must have a strictly perpendicular direction with respect to the plane of the leaf. Haste in this process is disastrous, since the depth of the hole must strictly correspond to the size of the loop cup, about 1.2-1.3 cm. To facilitate your work, you need to sharpen the cutter before grinding the drill.

2. Fittings are then inserted into the holes. The main requirement at this stage is a perpendicular relationship with the end of the leaf. Otherwise, the product will look crooked. For maximum accuracy, the building level is used. The hinge is fastened to the door using self-tapping screws.

3. The final point is the installation of the sash on the furniture itself. If the headset element is not so large, you can lay it on its side, and on the side to which it is planned to screw the door. Carefully measure the place of fixing the screws, after which they are twisted. To adjust the smoothness of the door, the hinges are tightened or vice versa loosened.

As can be seen from all of the above, the installation of furniture loops is not too complicated a matter, it is quite possible to do on their own.
