Increased creatinine. Than it is fraught and how to bring the indicators back to normal

Creatinine is the final product of nitrogen metabolism. This indicator allows you to track the function of the kidneys and muscles of our entire body. By the level of this product (for this you need a blood test for creatinine), you can judge the excretory function of the kidneys and the state of the muscle tissue. It is formed in the muscles, then is released directly into the blood and is excreted from our body by the kidneys along with the urine.

The simplest method of detecting many diseases is a blood test. Creatinine in women (its level) is slightly below the level in men (its number varies between 45.5-81.3 μmol / l, in men - 61.3-105.2 μmol / l). Therefore, the indicators will be different depending on gender. Increased creatinine in men because they have more muscle mass (and in children it is generally - 26.0-61.5 μmol / l).

The reasons (main) increase in creatinine:

  • Normally, creatinine has been elevated in many athletes (a large volume of muscle mass), those people who eat a large amount of meat food, take medication (Ibuprofen, Tetracycline, Cefazolin).
  • Acute kidney failure. There are many causes of arrester. The most common: shock states, large blood loss, poisoning with nephrotoxic substances, acute kidney disease, mushroom poisoning, bilateral kidney trauma. The main symptom of acute renal failure is anuria (absence of urination), nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, lethargy, the main symptoms are the illness that led to arthritis.

  • Creatinine is also increased when a large mass of muscle fibers is destroyed (for example, with the syndrome of prolonged crushing). During the damage to our muscles, a large amount of creatine is released, which enters the systemic circulation, and the kidneys do not have time to quickly remove it from our body.
  • When hyperthyroidism is also increased creatinine. The pathogenesis is based on the increased disintegration of muscle fibers under the influence of an excess of thyroid hormones, and increased autolysis of muscles leads to an increase in the level of creatinine.

When detecting elevated creatinine in the blood, in the first place, you need to exclude various kidney diseases. For this purpose, a number of analyzes and functional tests are carried out. An important breakthrough, which makes it possible to determine the function of the kidneys, is the clearance of endogenous creatinine (Reberg's test). This test is a more effective method of determining the functional state of the kidneys in comparison with a simple measurement of the level of the creatinine of the blood.

In the blood, the level of creatinine begins to increase when more than 50% of nephrons are affected, and the clearance varies long before the increase in creatinine of the blood.

Thus, it is thanks to this sample that the disease can be diagnosed at the preclinical stage and to win valuable time for successful treatment.

To reduce the level of creatinine of the blood can only be eliminated the cause of its increase, since this increased rate is only a symptom of the disease. Some reduction can be achieved with protein-free diet.
