In Sri Lanka, new trends in education were introduced, including in the program a deep study of psychology

A specialist who has received a bachelor's degree in psychology has every chance to go up the career ladder. The Colombo Institute of Research and Psychology (CIRP) in Sri Lanka is planning to provide students with a way to obtain a bachelor's degree. The higher education program offered by the CIRP is aimed at providing the in-depth knowledge required at the undergraduate level.

Curriculum modules

The HND program consists of 3 levels, and each level includes 10 modules, which must be completed after 6 months. Thus, the development of HND takes 18 months. Throughout this period, students undergo 30 modules.

Among the 30 modules, 18 are mandatory and are based on general psychological topics such as social, cognitive, behavioral, biological and psychodynamic aspects. The remaining 12 modules are optional. Students have the right to choose them from the list of 40 electives on the basis of such leading disciplines of psychology as child psychology, abnormal and clinical psychology, organizational psychology, forensic psychology, health psychology, psychological counseling, etc.

Many students choose the direction, based on the area in which they would like to specialize. After completing all three levels of HND, students can complete the final year of B.Sc.

Benefits of studying in Sri Lanka

The University of Hertfordshire (UH) is one of the best modern educational institutions in England. The psychology program that he provides is accredited by the British Society of Psychology. CIRP students have the opportunity to complete a course of study for 2.5 years and finish it 6 months earlier than others.

The HND program is equivalent to the first two years of B.Sc., and training costs only 250,000 rupees.

HND covers a two-year program B.Sc., as this university does not provide a long summer vacation.

Teaching Staff

In accordance with the CIRP's commitment to academic excellence, several highly qualified and well-known scientists and specialists in the field of psychology were selected to teach and guide the students. The faculty is headed by Dr. Janet LeValli, an American psychologist and scientist with many years of experience in several international universities as a dean and head of the department of psychology.

There are seven permanent teachers from M.Sc. And about twenty invited lecturers with Ph.D and M.Sc. Among the invited lecturers are senior lecturers from such areas as research methodology, statistics and pedagogical psychology, as well as such specialists in the field of psychology as practicing clinical psychologists, psychotherapists. They teach students practical skills and methods.

Individual Skills Development Program

In addition to theoretical modules, the course includes an individual skill development program aimed at developing critical analysis, academic skills. Upon termination of this educational institution it is possible to become the true professional in the discipline.

CIRP, which is the only private institution with a consulting laboratory, can provide students with the experimental opportunities necessary for their studies. The Institute is equipped with an electronic and multimedia library, educational rooms and a modern student hall.

In addition to HND, CIRP also offers a number of degree programs in many disciplines in the field of psychology, targeting individuals in other fields and professions that want to use knowledge and skills in the field of psychology. Loans received during the passage of these programs can be transferred to HND, and then open access to the program to obtain a degree for people who decide to continue their studies later.
