Hydronephrosis of kidneys in newborns: treatment with folk remedies

Sometimes at a birth put such diagnosis, as "hydronephrosis of a kidney" at the newborn. What it is? This disease, characterized by the clogging of the ureter with a tumor, concrements, blood clots, or there is a violation of urinary diversion due to the malformations of the organs that lead it out. In newborns, this pathology usually affects one of the kidneys, mainly the left one. When bilateral defeat requires urgent surgery, otherwise the baby can die.

Such a disease is treated mainly surgically, and conservative methods are used to slightly ease the patient's condition and in preparation for surgery. Drugs are used in the postoperative period to reduce the likelihood of complications.

How does the disease manifest itself?

Hydronephrosis of kidneys in newborns is dangerous because its symptoms appear only in the third stage. Therefore, the first symptoms should be noticed by the parents. They should be alerted that the baby became sluggish, capricious, began to eat badly, a dream was broken. With pains in the abdomen, the child knits and pulls them up.

Pay attention to the condition and quality of urine. If suddenly on diapers there were blood allocation, it is not necessary to delay with visit to the doctor.

The main symptom of the disease is an enlarged kidney, which is easily probed by bimanual palpation, and it can be found on ultrasound. A strong increase in the organ is manifested by a large volume of the abdomen. Often hydronephrosis of kidneys in newborns is accompanied by an infectious complication with an increase in temperature. Urine contains a large number of leukocytes.

Causes

Hydronephrosis is congenital and acquired. In neonates, the most common congenital form is characterized by abnormal development of the kidneys and their vascular system during intrauterine development. A child is born with an abnormal ureter, which may be narrowed or have an incorrect location, an extra arterial vessel. He, in turn, very strongly squeezes this organ, as a result of which the outflow of urine is disturbed.

A newborn can have a violation of urinary outflow from both one kidney and both at the same time. In this case, the diagnosis is one-sided or bilateral hydronephrosis.

Until now, it has not been fully determined why an abnormal intrauterine formation of the kidneys occurs, leading to the onset of this disease. Obviously one thing - to provoke possible deviations in the fetus can be the abuse of a woman in the position of alcoholic beverages. In addition, the health of the baby's future is adversely affected by smoking and taking certain medicines.

The acquired form of hydronephrosis of the kidneys arises from complications that are caused by other kidney diseases.

Kinds

Hydronephrosis of kidneys in newborns, whose photo clearly demonstrates the essence of the problem, is often one-sided. Exposed to this pathology are mostly boys. This disease is divided into three types.

Pyeloectasia - represents the first stage of the pathology, characterized by an increase in the pelvis due to increased pressure. At this stage the kidney parenchyma is not yet affected, the basic functions of the organ are preserved, but it is already slightly enlarged. With timely treatment, you can avoid serious consequences.

The second stage of hydronephrosis is hydrocalicosis. In this case, the pelvis of the organ increases even more with the cups of the kidneys. Excess urine accumulating in the renal tubules begins to compress the parenchyma, which is why its functioning is disturbed almost completely.

The third stage of hydronephrosis is accompanied by active atrophy of the renal tissues. In this case, the kidney function completely stops. At this stage, only surgical treatment is carried out.

Diagnostics

Hydronephrosis of kidneys in newborns is diagnosed with the help of ultrasound, computed tomography, excretory urography, laboratory studies, and mixed cystography.

An experienced physician is able to diagnose such a pathology during the first examination. With the help of palpation, he determines whether the kidney is enlarged or not, and then directs the child for examination. With the help of modern equipment it is possible not only to confirm the fact of the disease itself, but also to establish the degree of organ damage, and also to find out the possible causes that led to the emergence of hydronephrosis.

Excretory pyelography is performed to evaluate the excretory function of the kidneys, and with the help of a microcystography, it is possible to detect reflux, which in some cases provokes hydronephrosis.

If neonatal hydronephrosis is diagnosed in newborns, reviews of moms recommend that ultrasound be performed every three months to track changes in dynamics. In this case, the occurrence of complications can be prevented.

Treatment

If the kidney is enlarged slightly, then conservative treatment is performed, which allows to normalize the outflow of urine. With timely started literate treatment, you can achieve a positive result by restoring the kidneys.

When diagnosing the second stage of a disease, such as kidney hydronephrosis in newborns, treatment is also carried out mainly with medicamental methods with mandatory monitoring of dynamics. If it is positive, then continue conservative treatment according to the established scheme. Negative dynamics implies mandatory surgical intervention.

In the third stage, surgical intervention is performed in 100% of cases.

Indications for operation

Thanks to modern methods of treatment, effective care is provided with minimal operational complications. If the kidney hydronephrosis is diagnosed in a newborn, the operation can be prescribed in the following cases:

  • Expansion of body cavities;
  • Severe constriction of the ureter;
  • Presence of stones in the kidneys ;
  • The appearance of a tumor in the region of the pelvis.

Conducting surgical intervention

The most sparing method of surgical intervention is laparoscopic plastic surgery. The meaning of its conduct is that through the small incisions made, a laparoscope is introduced, which is a tube with a screen at the end. With the help of such a device, a narrow section of the ureter is replaced by a new surgeon with a new wide junction of this organ and a kidney pelvis. This contributes to the normal recovery of urine outflow.

Such a surgical intervention is performed at any stage of the disease. After that, the baby spends one week in the hospital.

The child must be registered with a urologist. For preventive purposes, the baby should take urseptics for two weeks. In addition, during the first year after the surgery, it is recommended that urine tests be taken regularly.

Treatment with folk remedies

Conclusion

Thus, if the diagnosis of kidney hydronephrosis was diagnosed in newborns, despair is not necessary. The main thing, if the degree of the disease is easy, then it is necessary to follow the dynamics of the development of this pathology and treat the child with a medicamentous method. Operative intervention is carried out in the most severe cases, but thanks to modern techniques, a high probability of recovery is guaranteed.
