  1. The first method is for the washed and dried citrus to be placed in a plastic container with a lid or packed in a special zip-package. In this form they should be sent to the storage compartment for vegetables and fruits, where they can be up to 4-5 weeks.
  2. The second way is that whole lemons will be stored in a jar with water. Due to this they will retain their juiciness, and their peel will not have time to dry. So, lemons are simply placed in a jar, poured with water and sent to the refrigerator on the middle shelf. Water should be changed every day, and lemons should be used as needed.

Sometimes it is recommended to store lemons, pre-wrapped them in parchment or greased with vegetable oil. But, as a rule, such methods are ineffective and allow preserving fruit from spoilage for a period of not more than 1 month.

Other ways of storing whole lemons

Not all people are suitable for the previous way of storing lemons, in which they are peppered with sugar. Hardly they can then be used in cooking fish dishes or sauces to meat. To preserve the unique aroma and at the same time to remove bitterness from the peel, lemons can be preserved, using as a preservative the usual table salt.

At the very beginning, it is necessary to prepare a liter jar, after sterilizing it. Then, lemons (6-8 pieces) should be thoroughly washed, cut off the ends on both sides, put the fruit on the cut and cut crosswise. In the resulting incisions, fall asleep on ½ tablespoon of salt and tamp the lemons in the jar. After all the fruits are laid, on top they will need to be covered with salt (1 tablespoon). Tamp the lemons in the jar should be tight, using a mortar or other improvised means, until they are completely covered with juice. After that, the can can be rolled up with a lid.
