How to overclock the processor

A desktop computer in the modern world is already considered an integral part of everyone's life. Buying this unit, everyone tries to choose the model with the maximum capabilities. But, one way or another, there comes a time when the idea of how to overclock the processor and other components does not stop pursuing. There is a possibility in this way to significantly increase the capabilities of a personal computer, although achieving the same goal will allow the replacement of necessary details with the latest, more "advanced" modifications.

Overclocking a personal computer, also called an overclocking in English, is an increase in the speed of PC components, forcing them to function in forced mode. It is the most acceptable way to expand the capabilities of the system in the event that component replacement is not possible.

You can overclock almost any part of the computer, for example, a graphics card, RAM, central or graphics processors. By the way, to improve performance, you can use the BIOS tools or special utilities to overclock the processor or other components.

Undoubtedly, the central processor is most often subjected to modernization . When performing such actions, a prerequisite is a very reliable cooling system that does not fail at the most crucial moment. This is necessary because during the increase in working capacity the temperature of the processor becomes much larger. Before you overclock the processor, you should always make sure that the cooler is working.

The speed of the computer's heart is determined by its architecture and clock speed. Since the user hardly has the ability to influence the structure of this part so that it becomes better to work, it is obvious that the performance should be increased by changing the clock frequency. By the way, the overclocking of the processor on the laptop is fundamentally the same as the same manipulations with the desktop computer. The clock frequency is the product of the multiplier and the FSB frequency. By adjusting the settings of these parameters, you can significantly improve the system's performance. The easiest and most affordable way to perform these actions is to work in the BIOS. Before you overclock the processor, you should think carefully about the need for these actions, since with incorrect manipulation there is a great chance of damaging or disabling the equipment, and all responsibility will rest only on who carried out the upgrade.

All changes must be made in the BIOS menu, and in order to enter it you need to press the corresponding button on the keyboard when the system is booted. Often this is the "Del" key, but in some models of motherboards there may be another option. After completing the entry, the work will take place in the "Advansed BIOS Features" section, which is responsible for the bus frequency parameters. Change the CPU bus frequency, but no more than 15% at a time. After all the changes necessary to check the stable operation of the system, as a result of which it will be seen how to overclock the processor further. It may be necessary at all to abandon the changes and go for a new part that meets the necessary requirements.

In any case, if the user is poorly versed in the features of the system, has little knowledge in this area, then he should not engage in such manipulations. Typically, such actions attract experienced professionals, and, rather, as entertainment, rather than a special need.
