How to make the stretcher of the distribution on the "Niva" with your own hands

Despite the fact that every year in Russia more and more new roads are being laid, off-road in our regions is enough. Domestic motorists sometimes have to travel to such areas, where only an armored personnel carrier can travel. That is why in the conditions of rough terrain there is a need for the availability of adequate transport. The cheapest and affordable SUV for today is VAZ 2121 "Niva". But this Russian all-terrain vehicle is subject to various damages. One of the weak points is the transfer case. In order to protect it, motorists install a special stretcher of the distribution on the "Niva". With his hands it is made or not, it does not matter - the result is still the same (the difference is only in monetary costs).

What is this element for?

The subframe of the distribution on the "Niva" with its own hands is installed in order to prevent the occurrence of vibrations and resonance, and, of course, to protect the box from all sorts of damages. According to car owners, after installation of the device in the car, the noise level is significantly reduced, which, unfortunately, can not be ruled out by any modern soundproofing.

Benefits of using

Such an adaptation, like a stretcher, has a lot of advantages, the main one of which, as we have already noted, is the reduction of noise and vibrations in the cabin. In addition, this device is the only protection of the lower part of the transfer case.

By the way, on the conveyor "Niva" is already supplied with special fixings to the floor, which allow mounting mounts on the transfer case. Thus, the installation of the subframe of the distribution on the "Niva" takes away from the car enthusiast no more than 30 minutes. Another thing is the hand-made manufacturing of this part (in this case it can take several days to work). But why is the machine not initially equipped with such a device? To answer this question, let us consider the main shortcomings of this device.

disadvantages

The main disadvantage of the subframe is the decrease in the vehicle's ground clearance (by several centimeters). But nevertheless on off-road ability of an off-road car this upgrade practically does not affect. Most likely, the absence of the element under consideration in the factory equipment of the car is explained by a complex production technology (special structural steel is used for the manufacture of this device ). However, no matter how many reasons we call, the fact remains that the subframe of the distribution on the "Niva" is established only by the efforts of the car owners themselves. Even in SRT, not everyone is taken for their manufacture or installation.

How does the car behave on the road?

Judging by the reviews of motorists, the stretcher under the distribution ("Niva 2121") is really useful and functional detail: at a speed of more than 100 kilometers per hour, no vibrations and noises that were earlier in the cabin are not observed. Of course, the inside is not as quiet as in the restyling "Skoda Octavia", but still the difference is palpable.

We make the subframe of the distribution on the "Niva" with our own hands

First you need to prepare a metal channel and corner. The role of fasteners will be carried out by 4 bolts, which we screw through the spars through to the interior. Place the screws in such a way that they affect part of the seats and are strictly underneath them. We also need a sheet of thin metal.

Required Tools

First of all, prepare a large and small grinder, a drill (preferably not a rechargeable battery), a caliper, a roll, a hammer, a ruler, as well as a means of protection to prevent the ingress of hot metal shavings into the eyes while working with the bulgarian. All work should be carried out according to a certain scheme (drawing of the stretcher of the distribution "Niva 2121" you can see in the photo below).

So, where to start work? First you need to measure and process the base edge of the channel. After that, measure the necessary distances from it with a ruler. The windows in the device need to be sawed out by a small and large bulgarian in the transverse and longitudinal direction, respectively. The length of the cut should not exceed 8 millimeters from the edge of the upper shelf of the structure. After the windows have been cut, the contours of the sides should be machined and the chamfers removed.

The angle of attachment to the spar and cross member of the device may be free, but it should not be less than the length of the fastening holes and the distance between them. If there are no corners available, you can use a different fastening scheme for the part to the spar. It is important to observe the height of fastening to the subframe of the transfer case.

If this is a reinforced subframe, metal corners are additionally welded under the mounting points of the brackets of the box. The latter are connected to the lateral parts of the channel. The holes of the oblong form go like a bolted joint.

We install the subframes of the distribution on the "Niva Comfort" off-road vehicle: where is the protection secured?

It is mounted on the corners at the bottom of the device. With regard to the type of connection, it, like the two above options, is bolted. However, the holes in the body of the side parts of the device and the lower part of the corners are made on a threaded principle. Protective sheet - part of the power structure, which forms a kind of box and gives the subframe greater strength. Accordingly, the box will be less vulnerable to various mechanical damages, which will be positively displayed on the passability of the "Niva".

Extra holes

Under the drain plug, the oil drainage window is additionally cut out. Drilling holes can be in any place convenient for you, without bothering with the accuracy of the layout. Also, motorists make technological windows to drain the water formed between the sides of the channel and the dirt that gets there. The protection is enhanced by the corners, which are attached to the support of the box and the frontal part of the whole device. Such a design will save the distribution from all sorts of blows to stumps, ditches and other obstacles that can lead to deformation of the subframe.

How can I improve the device for extreme driving?

In this case, you can change the profile of the sidewalls of the device, which will make it more flat and durable. The corners are welded not only to the brackets of the transfer box, but also to the side shelves of the channel. They are also fastened inside the last element. At the exit you should get a frame from four corners. This design makes it possible to cut the sidewalls of the channel under the shelf of the corner. As a result, the height of the subframe will be reduced by 50%, and the strength will be doubled.

What dangers can lurk a car enthusiast while driving?

As practice shows, even such a device as a stretcher does not guarantee 100% protection of the dispenser and other parts of the car during off-road driving. Therefore, if you often exploit the Niva in a rural area where there is a danger of "picking up" a stump or some other thing that is difficult to spot in a non-grass, place the special protection on the stretcher, which we discussed in the previous paragraph. Then the risk of deformation of the dispenser will decrease to zero. If there is no such protection, both the stretcher and the box will deteriorate.

So, we found out how to make the stretcher of the distribution on the "Niva" with our own hands. And you need him or not - decide for yourself.
