How to install doors yourself

It is worth noting that this process is very responsible and requires the presence of a certain instrument and accurate calculation. To it it is necessary to be approached with all seriousness, as wrongly made installation of a door can lead to its fast deterioration, inconvenience in operation and even to damage of a wall.

First, you need to determine when to install interior doors, so that in the process of further repair they will not be damaged. Usually, this is done after finishing the wall, before painting or wallpapering. If the doors are installed in the bathroom, then this is done before installing the tiles. At the same time, only the door frame is fixed first , and the canvas is hung after completion of all work.

Before installing the doors, it is necessary to prepare an opening in the wall. It should be made in accordance with the dimensions of the box, but taking into account the gaps of 1-2 cm on each side. This is done in order to have a small space that is necessary for the adjustment and operation of the entire system.

The door box is installed in the opening and fixed with wedges. In this case, it is necessary to use a plumb line and a water level so that the future door is level and does not open itself. Ideally, the door should open and be in the position in which it was left. Also, it should not be rubbed and clamped in a box, which can happen when the installation is incorrect.

Before installing the doors, you should be aware that the mounting foam used to secure the box has a large expansion ratio and can have a negative effect when used. Therefore, before it is blown into the gaps between the wall and the box, it is worthwhile to install spacers. Some instructions on how to install doors are suggested to put one spacer in the area of the lock or door handle, but professionals recommend using them in the number of three pieces. Two additional piles are placed in the vicinity of the upper and lower hinges. So the mounting foam can not deform the box and tightly fix it.

After that, you can hang the canvas. Many instructions on how to install doors are advised to mount the canvas with a gap of about 5 mm from the floor. However, one should always take into account that there is a kind of subsidence, which can cause the bottom of the canvas to be mashed and prevent the door from opening. Therefore, such a gap should be done a little more and bring it up to 10, and sometimes even up to 15 mm.

Correctly installed door should be easy to open, do not have grinding and creaking, but most importantly - it should not open and close independently under the influence of its own weight.
