How to get a disability?

Today, few of us can boast of good health, and the number of people who seriously complicate the life of serious ailments is growing exponentially. Bad ecology, a wrong way of life, constant stresses, disgusting food quality, catastrophes, an increase in the number of hereditary diseases - all this is far from a complete list of reasons, due to which the army of disabled people is increasing. What to do if the house has trouble, which doors to knock on and how to get a disability - the main questions that most people ask themselves for medical examination.

It is worth noting that the process of obtaining disability in our country is very similar to running with obstacles, and for long distances. On the way, there are a lot of barriers, which are sometimes difficult to overcome, especially in those cases when the patient is not too well aware of the intricacies of the forthcoming procedure. Therefore, the question of where and how to get a disability requires a very close examination.

For the registration of a disability, it is necessary, first of all, to have good reasons (medical indications), according to which the medical institution issues a referral for medical examination. You can receive a disability only if you have at least two of the three conditions prescribed by law:

  • Health impairment, caused by defects, injuries, diseases, accompanied by a stable disorder of the body's functions;
  • The loss of the ability of patients to self-service, move, communicate, orientate, control their behavior, engage in work (that is, partial or complete restriction of life activities);
  • The emergence of the need for the application of social protection measures, including rehabilitation.

If the reasons described above are present, the medical institution or guardianship authorities refer the patient to a medical and social expertise (ITU) for the survey. When applying to the ITU it is necessary to have on hand all the documents for disability registration: a passport, application, referral and medical certificates that confirm the fact of a health disorder.

The special commission conducts the examination of the patient and makes a decision. If the decision is positive, then the specialists set the appropriate disability group and issue a confirmatory certificate. There are three groups of disability: the first group gets need for two years, and the second and third - for one year. Sick children or adolescents receive the category of "disabled child", the duration of which depends entirely on the severity of the health condition (one year, two years, or until the child reaches eighteen years of age).

And what to do and how to get a disability, if the doctors refused to establish it? In such cases, it is necessary to knock on the higher authorities of the ITU or to go to court with a lawsuit challenging the decision taken by the commission. It is worth noting that the latter option is regarded as the most effective and shortest way to obtain the desired result.

A positive solution does not mean that now you can forget about how to get a disability once and for all. Every two years the invalids of the first group are required to undergo a reassessment, the disabled of the second and third groups are subjected to this procedure annually. Citizens of a retirement age, invalids with irreversible anatomical defects, and some other patients meeting the criteria established by law are exempt from re-examination.
