How to cook rhubarb pie: tips and recipes

A simple rhubarb pie

Half an hour bake the dessert in the oven, heated to one hundred and sixty degrees. After cooling, sprinkle over the powdered sugar.

Yeast pie with rhubarb

You can also try the traditional Latvian yeast pie. Egg-sour cream filling and light sourness of rhubarb combine perfectly and create a wonderful dessert together. The test requires a half liter of milk, fifty grams of fresh yeast, a kilogram of flour, a packet of butter, fifty grams of margarine, a tablespoon of sugar and half a teaspoon of salt. The filling for such a delicacy, like rhubarb pie, is a half a kilogram of this vegetable in combination with an egg, two hundred grams of sour cream, a hundred grams of sugar, zest or cinnamon to taste. Dilute the yeast in a piece of milk, add the rest of the milk, melted butter and margarine, salt, sugar, put in the flour and knead the homogeneous dough. It will be ready when it becomes easy to disassemble from the hands and dishes. Sprinkle the dough with flour and leave to rise for three hours. Cut the rhubarb with mugs and add sugar. Roll out the dough two centimeters thick, place on a greased baking sheet and bend the edges up. The rhubarb cake is almost ready, it remains only to arrange the filling. Whisk the egg with spices and sour cream, spread over the base of the rhubarb and fill it with the resulting mixture. Open dessert should be baked in a preheated oven, and after cooling, sprinkle powder.

Quick rhubarb pie

If there is no time to prepare a home test, you can use the store yeast test. Three hundred grams will be enough. Peel and cut the rhubarb into cubes. Roll out the dough into two pieces, one put in a baking dish, oiled and sprinkle with its stuffing. Sprinkle the rhubarb with sugar and cover the rhubarb pie with the second piece of dough. Bake in the oven at a temperature of two hundred and twenty degrees about half an hour. Such a simple recipe will be as delicious as the more complex one.
