In our time, a wide range of building materials can satisfy even the most unusual fantasies in the repair and decoration of premises. If in the last century we confined ourselves to purely rectangular forms, today we can experiment and create intricate curves and configurations from various materials, for example, from plasterboard. It is a popular building material from which arches, wavy partitions, multi-level ceilings , etc. are made.

But how to bend drywall, not everyone knows. You can, of course, use arched GKL, but it is more expensive than usual and not so eco-friendly. Therefore, many prefer to perform such works from a simple drywall. Let's consider in more detail how to bend drywall can.

For such works, sheets of not more than 60 cm in width and a perforated profile of 60х27 (ceiling) are used.

Methods of plasterboard bending

Wet bending. On the side of the GCR sheet, which will shrink, punctures of about 1.5 cm are made with an interval of 15 mm. The surface with holes is wetted by water with a usual foam rubber sponge. Before bending the drywall, you need to make sure that it is soaked in water and ready for installation. After that, the drywall is installed on the frame, and the billet is bent smoothly along it. Then you need to fix the sheet in this position and leave to dry for a day.

Dry bending. Suitable in cases where bends are assumed to be smooth and insignificant. On a gypsum plasterboard, grooves are cut with the necessary depth of a U-shaped or V-shaped. The workpiece is attached to the ready-made curved frame, and the furrows are sealed with putty.

Before implementing our recommendations on how to bend drywall, you should consider the following: if the interior design involves a lot of curved shapes, it is more advisable to order from the manufacturer already ready bent sheets.

Drywall installation technology

For installation work, perforated profiles, self-tapping screws, pliers, metal scissors are required. When frameless installation requires a comb spatula, water level, glue composition, with which the HA panels will be fixed.

First of all, a framework of perforated profile is installed on the markings applied in advance. The erection of the structure takes most of the time, since this is the basis of all work with plasterboard. Another example: if you have the task to level the walls with plasterboard, sometimes you can do without a long erection of the frame. Align the walls in two ways. As already mentioned, the installation on the structure of the profile is the first, dry method, and the second is the gluing of the sheets of gypsum board to a special glue composition.

Since the installation of gypsum cardboard on a framework of a perforated profile is quite difficult for a beginner and can not be avoided without the help of a specialist, consider the second method of installation. Adhesion of gypsum boards is the simplest kind of installation. Almost any beginner finisher will cope with it. There are two ways of gluing drywall.

"Mayachkovy". On the wall or the sheet itself, apply glue in small portions at a distance of several centimeters (5-7) from each other. Applying to the wall gypsum cardboard, with the help of a water level is arranged its correct location. It is very important to install the plates in accordance with the level. Since the adhesive composition quickly seizes, it is not possible to subsequently remove the sheet without damaging it. At the joints of the sheets a small gap is left in case of expansion of the material. This type of fastening should be used in cases where the wall code has significant defects in the form of deep irregularities.

"Combohead". Applied glue composition comb (with centimeter teeth) spatula on the wall. Evenly distributed adhesive and glued sheet. Nothing complicated. True, this method should be chosen only in cases where the walls do not have noticeable irregularities.
