Glue "Perlfix": characteristics, applications and benefits

Building materials today meet the growing demands of consumers and sanitary standards. Glue "Perlfix" for gypsum cardboard from the company "Knauf" is very popular. Its properties and application features should be considered in more detail.

General information about the company "Knauf"

It is a manufacturer with a worldwide reputation, producing construction products. Its materials are used for internal and external decoration, as well as for machine application.

The organization was established in 1932 in Germany by two brothers - Alfonso and Karl Knaufi. Their company showed itself as a manufacturer of high-quality finishing materials. Now it has reached the world leadership in the field of construction industry.

The first plant was opened in Bavaria in 1949. Initially, the company produced only gypsum mixtures, and from the beginning of 1958 began to produce and gipsokartonnye sheets. To gain a foothold in the market and expand the range of products, Knauf acquired a stake in Deutsche Perlite GmbH in 1970 (the company produced dry cement mixtures), and soon a glass fiber insulation factory in Shelbyville, USA. This diversified the risks and brought the organization to a new level.

In 1993, the company Knauf opens factories in the CIS countries. Today it is a successful company with a worldwide reputation for the production of high-quality and durable materials.

Purpose

Glue "Pearlfix" is used only inside rooms with normal and high humidity level. It is designed for gluing of drywall, foam plastic, expanded polystyrene, mineral wool and gypsum tiles with a matt base.

The mixture is suitable for both warm and unheated rooms. It is not recommended to use the product in places where there is a possibility of direct water ingress onto open material. Do not apply glue to damp walls.

Properties and characteristics

The service life of the mixture is several tens of years. Glue "Perlix", the characteristics of which are presented by the manufacturer, has a good grasp with a concrete base (0.6 MPa).

Due to the increased content of gypsum, the mixture has an increased compressive strength (10.9 MPa) and bending strength (3.4 MPa). When working glue "Perlifix" seizes within 30 minutes. This property allows you to make adjustments to drywall sheets using rules or a building level.

Seven days - the period of complete drying of the glue "Perlfix". The consumption of the gypsum mix is 5 kg per 1 m 2 of the surface to be treated. To obtain a qualitative and reliable result, it should be operated at a temperature of at least +5 ° C. The water consumption per bag (30 kg) is 16 liters.

Glue Perlix is an environmentally friendly and safe material for health. It is packaged and enters the market in paper packages of 15 and 30 kg.

Storage conditions

Keep the glue "Perlifix" ("Knauf") in a dry room, since it contains gypsum. It is desirable to do this on wooden pallets, which will ensure good air permeability around the bags. Such precautions will prevent the dewatering of dry material in the presence of high humidity in the room.

If the packaging has been damaged or uncovered, glue should be poured into a whole bag or sealed with an old bag. The recommended shelf life of the mixture is 6 months.

Benefits

Glue "Perlfix" ("Knauf") has a number of advantages. Works with the mixture are less noisy and difficult. The material is applied with a ribbed trowel on the entire sheet or with flat cakes. Profile and fasteners are additional costs for repairs. Therefore, Perlix will be a more economical option.

The advantages of glue are also in its versatility. They are easier to maneuver when leveling walls, unlike profiles. Also they can perform small shpaklevochnye work.

Step-by-step instruction

First, you need to determine the amount of material consumed in the area to be treated. There are two main ways to use the glue "Perlix". The consumption for GCR depends on the unevenness of the wall and the thickness of the application of the material.

To begin with, the wall is cleared of fragments of exfoliation, contamination. Before gluing GKL it is necessary to primer the surface, whether it be brickwork, plaster or aerated concrete wall. It is better to use special products "Knauf".

To mix glue "Perlfix" you need a plastic container. When mixing water and a dry mixture, the ratio is 1: 2. The water is poured into the container, then the gypsum mounting glue is poured out.

The material is mixed with a construction mixer. As a result, a homogeneous mass without lumps should form in the container. The solution should look like sour cream. If the mixture is very dense or liquid, add water or a dry mixture, respectively.

It is recommended to gradually add glue to the container with water when mixing, to achieve a more even consistency of the solution. The ready-to-use mass is used for 30 minutes.

The glue is applied pointwise at a distance of 30-35 cm. "Perlix" should be applied along the middle line of the sheet in one row. And for sheets more than 10 mm thick, the glue is applied in two rows and along the entire perimeter. After that, press the sheet against the wall from the bottom up. Then, with the help of a kayak and an intermediate rack, it is leveled. Thanks to the elasticity of the adhesive, you can safely adjust the sheet for 10 minutes to the desired result.

If the walls have large drops or pits deeper than 20 mm, it is recommended to use plasterboard and glue strips to get a smooth surface for installation. It should be remembered that if the solution begins to dry up, then you can not add water to it, otherwise its quality will decrease significantly.
