Indications for use

This drug is intended for use in the presence of such diseases:

  • Peritonitis, sepsis, endocarditis;

Mode of application

This drug is only injected or drip. For adults, the daily dose should be from 0.25 to 1 gram, it is administered up to 4 times a day, but not more than 6 grams. Treatment with the drug "Cefazolin" (injections) can last up to 10 days.

For the purpose of prophylaxis one hour before the start of the operation, it is recommended to inject 1 gram of the drug intravenously, during surgery it is also introduced up to 1 gram and after it is completed, for every 8 hours, 0.5 to 1 gram of this drug should be taken every 8 hours.

For children aged 1 month, the daily dose should not be more than 25-50 mg / kg, in especially severe cases it can be increased to 100 mg / kg and is also administered 3-4 times.

In order to prepare a medicine "Cefazolin" (injections), take 0.5 mg of the drug and dissolve in 2-4 ml of sterile water, if administered intramuscularly, it can be diluted in novocaine. If the drug is administered iv, then it is diluted with 5 ml of water and injected for 5 minutes. On drip administration, this agent is diluted in a 5% or 10% solution of dextrose, which is taken 50-100 ml, or in a 0.9% solution of sodium chloride, Ringer's solution or sodium bicarbonate solution.

Side effects

Contraindications

The drug "Cefazolin" (injections) is not assigned to pregnant women and newborn children, with intolerance to cephalosporin group preparations, as well as beta-lactam antibiotics.

It should be noted that if a patient has an allergy to penicillins, they can also respond to cephalosporin antibiotics. The drug should be taken cautiously to those people who have such a gastrointestinal disease as colitis. Also, taking this medication can cause a false positive reaction to glucose in the urine.

Drug Interactions

The drug "Cefazolin" (injections) can not be used together with diuretics and anticoagulants. Incompatible this drug with aminoglycosides, as they mutually inactivate each other. During the preparation of a solution that will be administered intravenously, lidocaine can not be used.
