How do I know the date of birth?

As soon as a woman learns that she is pregnant, she immediately has a huge number of questions. A significant part of them is devoted to the course of pregnancy, the preparation for childbirth and, of course, the moment when a baby is born.

One of the most exciting questions from this category is when will the long-awaited event take place? Of course, to know when to expect the birth of a child, the future mother needs, because so much has to be done before this time! Therefore, pregnant women and their happy husbands study pregnancy benefits and seek an answer to the question of how to find out the date of birth.

There are many different ways to determine the covenant number. The most common method is to determine by the date of the first day of the last monthly cycle.

How to know the date of birth, based on the time of the last menstrual cycle

At once we will make a reservation that no one, even the most qualified gynecologist, will be able to determine the date of birth with absolute certainty. All calculations are approximate, and a specific day can only be spoken after the birth itself.

Count the date of birth (approximate) you can even yourself. This process does not require you to special skills, you just need to know the exact time, which was the beginning of the last monthly. This method is also used by gynecologists who, when filling out your pregnancy card, should calculate the day of childbirth.

To calculate the estimated time, use the formula of Negele. The essence of the method: from the first day of the last menstrual cycle, subtract three months and add another seven days. For example, the first day of the last menstruation was on June 22nd. We perform the calculations: on June 22 minus three months (May 22, April 22, March 22) = March 22. Now add 7 days, get the number 29. Accordingly, the approximate date of delivery is March 29.

You can use the Keller table. In the yellow row of the table you need to select the date of the first day of the last menstrual cycle, the blue line will tell the day of the expected delivery.

How to know the date of birth with ultrasound

To date, ultrasound data allows you to accurately determine the estimated time of delivery. In this case, the most accurate is the data of ultrasound taken before the 12th week of pregnancy.

How to know the date of delivery in other ways

It can also be determined by the date of ovulation, by the first movement of the fetus and by specific signs-precursors.

Knowing the date of ovulation, you can determine the day of the expected delivery, adding to it 280 days. In this case, the discrepancy with the date of birth, determined by the formula of Negele, will be from three to five days. But this method of counting can be used only by women, whose menstrual cycle is stable.

There is also a method for determining the expected date of birth, based on the time of the first fetal movement. So, for the first time those who are in the position usually begin to feel the firing of the fetus at week 20, and the miscarriages - at the 18th week of pregnancy. But this can hardly be considered an effective method, since a woman can not always determine exactly when she first felt the first movements of the fetus.

Within a few days (about a week) before the birth, a woman may have harbingers of a long-awaited event. The lowered abdomen allows breathing freely, the uterus becomes more excitable. The day before the birth, light mucous secretions appear (the cork disappears), there appear fights, colostrum is allocated from the nipples. Well, a particularly important indicator before an important event is the condition of the cervix.

Some women give birth exactly on the appointed date, some - before the scheduled day, some - later. This affects the general condition of the mother and the course of pregnancy.
