How did Grinev meet with the general? The meeting on which the fate of the lovers depended

"The Captain's Daughter" - a story that did not leave any reader indifferent. It touches on such eternal topics as nobility, honor, love and betrayal. The story can be called a real masterpiece of literature, because it gives an opportunity to reflect on the human qualities, actions and actions of people in various difficult situations. About how he met with the general, you can find out by reading the story "The Captain's Daughter". This moment is one of the most important in the work.

Characteristics of Grinev

In the story "The Captain's Daughter" Grinyov, Pyotr Andreevich was the main character who fully revealed himself to the reader and showed his true character. In the novel there were many difficult situations in which Peter behaved like a real honest and kind man, not afraid to give his life and never asking for mercy.

When his father sent Grinyov to the service, he told his son to take his honor from the young age. Peter did not disobey his father and appeared before the reader as a man for whom honor stands in the first place. However, love forced him to go against the truth.

The question of how Grinev met with the general became one of the most important in the story. The fate of the enamored Peter and Masha Mironova depended on what decision the general took.

Characteristics of Shvabrina

The characteristic of Grinow is completely the opposite of the characterization of Shvabrin. Alexey Ivanovich is an evil, envious and hypocritical person. When Peter arrived at the service, Shvabrin and Grinyov became friends through common interests, education and age. But the cross on their partnership put love for two to Masha Mironova. Pyotr Andreevich communicated well with her mother and father, became a native for them and did not want to shower in Masha. The quarrel between Shvabrin and Grinyov occurred after Alexei criticized Peter's "love song" for Mary. In addition, the traitor desecrated Masha and hinted at her "dirty" and wrong behavior, as well as morals.

The first meeting of Grinev with Pugachev

Grinev several times in the story met with the robber Pugachev. The first meeting was unexpected for both of them on the way to Orenburg. Grinyov found a snowstorm, and he did not know which way to go to the right place. A stranger met him on the way, who offered to put the man in housing. In gratitude, Peter gave him his hare sheepskin coat and treated him with wine.

The second meeting between Pugachev and Grinyov took place under more severe circumstances. Pugachev captured the Belogorsky fortress and executed her commandant Mironov, as well as his wife. Together with them, Peter Andreevich was to die on the gallows, but Pugachev remembered his noble deed and pardoned.

Peter's meeting with the general. The Military Council

After the commandant of the fortress Mironov and his wife were executed, their daughter Masha remained in the fortress due to the fact that the priest introduced her as her niece. Grinev wanted very much to save his beloved, but he understood that with this difficult task he could not cope alone.

About how he met with the general, the reader can learn only after reading the story "The Captain's Daughter" in full, because in brief descriptions of the novel, these events are almost impossible to find.

Grinev decided to ask for help from a military general in order that he help him to free Masha Mironov. Peter found him in the garden. The general was in a calm mood, admiring the apple trees and wrapping them up with straw. He began to question Grinyov about all the terrible events that he witnessed. Peter told the general about everything, including about Mironov and his wife. The old man said with compassion and sympathy that he felt sorry for the commandant of the fortress and Vasilisa, because they were very good, kind and honest people.

After that, the general asked Greenway, where is the captain's daughter. Peter answered that she remained in the fortress and now it is not known what robbers can do to her. To which the old man affirmatively told the boy in love that he would collect military advice, and they would decide together what actions would be necessary to take.

At the military council, the general invited only all the major city officials, but he did not call any of his officers. All of them were people of age and always preferred to take only passive decisions. They also did not respond to Pyotr Andreevich's request. Therefore, Grinev was left without the help of the general, despite the fact that only he was able to help the boy in love.

Pugachev's decision

From the way Grinev met with the general, the fate of Masha Mironova and Peter himself depended. After the refusal of the old man and members of the military council, Grinyov and Savelich go back to the fortress to help the beloved. On the way, they are detained by bandits from the "gang" of Pugachev, lead to their ataman and begin to question Peter. Grinev honestly talks about his intentions, about what he wanted to free his beloved.

Pugachev clearly felt sympathy for Grinyov and promised that he would release Masha Mironov and himself. However, Shvabrin once again showed his hypocrisy and anger, telling Pugachev that Masha is the captain's daughter. But it is worth noting that this decision did not affect the decision of the ataman, and he still let the lovers go.

Because of Shvabrin, Peter began to suspect that he served Pugachev and was sentenced to exile in Siberia, but, fortunately, Masha told the empress about who Grinow really is, and she decided to release him.

The meeting of Grinev with the general played a very important role to some extent. If he had not refused Peter, things could have been different: Masha and Peter could have been executed. Therefore, in many ways the fate of the lovers depended on this meeting.
