Hose gas mask: purpose and marks

Hose gas mask is an excellent protective device, the purpose of which is to provide comprehensive protection of respiratory organs and skin on the face with harmful effects of toxic and toxic substances. This device is able to protect the user from bad air, while saturating the lungs with oxygen coming through a special hose.

There are two types of hose gas masks, differing in the method of supplying clean air:

  • Air-pressure. The essence of this device is to carry out the supply of clean air by means of a fan or a compressor.
  • Self-priming. Such an assembly allows the user to inhale clean air by himself.

Hose gas mask is a device providing reliable protection of respiratory organs in places with insufficient oxygen or at a high concentration of toxic substances and dust in the air.

These gas masks are designed for use in places with a small area of pollution, because the principle of their work is to suck in clean air at a distance not exceeding forty meters from the user.

Most often, PNs are used in small rooms, mines or tanks. In other cases, contamination occurs on too large areas, which excludes the possibility of using clean air.

Device design

The hose gas mask consists of a mask-helmet, tightly and hermetically adjacent to the face, a pair of tubes and a special valve designed for air escape.

Depending on the type of device, the hose can be from ten to forty meters in length. Be sure to note that before starting work the duct must be installed in a clean area and only after that perform the necessary operations.

Requirements and technical norms

Each gas mask must be tested before use. In order to prevent accidents during the use of the product, it is necessary to check the equipment and marking.

After this, the unit needs to be visually inspected. Hoses, tube, valve and mask must be in perfect condition. Before use, the mask must be thoroughly cleaned from dust. You can do this by blowing. Be sure to check the tightness and tightness of the mask to face.

The check should be carried out just before the start of work and planned twice a year.

Pay attention to the presence of rubber gaskets in the areas where the components are connected.

Brands of gas masks

Hose gas masks are able to fully protect the respiratory system when working in restricted contaminated areas.

Gas mask ПШ-1 and ПШ-2 are used to protect not only from harmful gases and fog, but also from dust. In this case, air will come to the external respiratory organs through the hose from the place where the air is clean.

The PP-1 gas mask consists of:

  • Helmet-masks of three sizes;
  • Two corrugated half-meter tubes;
  • A ten-meter hose;
  • The protective belt, on which all working devices are attached;
  • Filter;
  • Cover, which allows to store and transport the unit.

The gas mask ПШ-2 has the following structure:

  • Two mask-helmets;
  • Two pipes five meters long each;
  • Two twenty-meter hose;
  • Two safety belts;
  • Box with blower;
  • A case for storing the device and its transportation.

How to make the right choice

The most important difference between hose masks is the length of the air ducts. You can find hoses with a length of 10, 20 and 40 meters.

Choose a device depending on the room in which you are going to work. If it is not very large, you will be fine with products with ten-meter hoses. For shallow mines and enterprises, it is best to use devices with long hoses. After all, the longer the length, the less likely it is that toxic substances and dust will enter the lungs.

How to store correctly

To maximize the safety of your device, store it in the correct conditions. The mask must be in a closed box in the room. In this case, the kit can be stored at temperatures from -50 to +50 degrees Celsius. However, before use, it is necessary to hold the unit at room temperature for a day.

In no case should the gas mask be exposed to direct sunlight, mechanical or thermal shock.

Hose gas masks have many advantages over their counterparts. Let them not so compact, but, unlike others, they supply human lungs with clean air, while other varieties only filter it. Therefore, the risk of getting infected is reduced as much as possible.

Most often this device is used by repairmen, since it is very convenient for him to move around a small area.
