The beginning of the hockey career

Sergei Yuryevich was born and raised in Ufa. It was there that he first got on the ice in a local children's sports school. His first coaches were VP Dergach and his father Yu. P. Gomolyako. Because he understood that he trained, but did not mess around.

The beginning of a professional career

Serious changes have taken place in the life of Sergei Yurievich. His father was invited to the position of coach at the school of higher sports in Chelyabinsk. Together with him the whole family moved. Homolyako Sergei at the age of 16 went for the main team, "Metallurg", which at that time was performing in the first league of the USSR championship. A year later he moved to Chelyabinsk "Tractor" on the initiative of Gennady Tsegurov and Valery Belorusov. Homolyako Sergei at first did not want to leave the "Metallurg" he liked. Career for the national team

Specialists of the national team initially took note of this young talented hockey player. In 1987, Gomolyako Sergey and Tertyshny at the invitation of coach Gennady Tsegurov joined the junior USSR national team. But at the first international tournament, gold could not be won. The junior team of the USSR lost to the Finns and played a draw with Sweden. As a result, the junior national team of the USSR received bronze medals. One of the most memorable events of this hockey player was the game for the youth national team of his country at the championship in Anchorage, which took place in 1889. Such future stars as Alexander Mogilny, Pavel Bure, Sergey Zubov and Sergey Fyodorov were members of that team . Among such an abundance of superstars, Homolyako Sergey showed decent hockey. In the finals of the World Cup our team fought with the team from Canada and won with a score of 7: 2.

Interest from the NHL

It was after the magnificent game at the World Youth Championship that Sergei became interested in the national hockey league. In 1989, the team of "Calgary Flames" chose him on the ninth round draft pick. Sergei Gomolyako (hockey player) was quite restrained both on the ice and in life. He calmly accepted this news. He began to prepare mentally for complex American charges, but fate decreed otherwise. During a game of football on the basis of "Tractor" he broke his leg and could not attend the training camp.

Completion of career

After receiving a serious injury Gomolyak in 34 years decided to finish his sports career. However, then decided to return to the team again.
