Homemade Bending Machine

You want to do a lot and you can do it yourself with your own hands to improve your home or dacha, but the standard set of tools does not work efficiently to process metal, which turns all these desires into a dream. After all, often only a file and a drill are at hand, and it is expensive or uncomfortable to apply to a metal works.

However, not everything is so hopeless. After spending a little time and applying personal skills, you can make tools or devices yourself, which will allow you to collect large enough metal structures. One such device is a bending machine, with which the bend and cut the metal. With the help of such equipment, you can give details of any shape. And now we will talk about how you can assemble the bending machine with your own hands.

So, to make a home bending machine (manual), we need three segments (2.4 and 5) of a steel angle of 32x32 millimeters, two powerful door awnings and a metal handle tube. The length of the corners can be chosen arbitrarily, depending on the maximum width of the metal sheet to be bent.

One of the corners is placed on the edge of the working surface (table or the like). To him with the help of hinges (which in this case are door awnings) is attached the second corner. The hinges are arranged in such a way that the axis of rotation of the structure is joined by the corners of the corners, and in their upper and lower positions there is a gap sufficient to accommodate the workpiece. Then a metal tube or other lever is attached to the movable corner, which will serve as the working handle of the machine. It can be welded or fixed in any other way, the main thing is that the fastener is reliable and can withstand great mechanical loads.

In the third corner, you need to drill two holes at the edges. In turn, at the first corner, fixed on the edge of the working surface, it is necessary to fix the two screws so that they correspond to the holes, and, tightening the screws, it would be possible to securely clamp the metal sheet between the first and third corner. In the design, it is best to use M8 screws.

The described bending machine operates as follows: a metal sheet (workpiece) is fixed between the first and third corner with screws; Then, by lifting the handle, the workpiece is bent to the angle required by the master. To prevent scratches on the workpiece, the working surfaces of the corners should be covered with a soft litter of paper, rags or felt. The workpiece can be bent to the right angle. This bending machine allows you to consistently bend the workpiece four times, which will result in a virtually finished housing.

Thus, without spending a lot of time and money, you can get a simple, but very effective tool, greatly expanding the capabilities of the home master. With the help of such equipment it is possible to make a metal case, perform roofing work, make a reinforcement for some detail and much more, and the manual bending machine has even an advantage over the mechanical analog as it allows to precisely control the bending angle.
