Heat through time or the principle of the operation of wood-burning stoves

No matter what changes the progress has been made, and the stove remains an invariable attribute of a country house. Furnaces are made of brick, iron or cast iron. They can be of different designs and appearance. But behind the oven in the house there is always the main function - heating the room. Also these heat sources can be used as:

  • Devices for cooking;
  • Fireplaces;
  • Devices for water heating and steam production.

Fuel can be very diverse. But perhaps, ordinary firewood will never lose its relevance. Wood furnaces have a long service life, good efficiency. Using wood as fuel, allows them to be considered the most environmentally friendly among their fellow humans.

No matter how modern furnaces that work on firewood differ from each other, from the same devices from past centuries, the principle of their work remains the same.

Principle of operation

In the construction of a wood-burning stove of any kind, several obligatory parts are necessarily present, which determine its operation.

First of all, it is the combustion chamber. The volumetric furnace serves for loading solid fuel, in this case - firewood. In addition to it, the stove has an ash box, an ash-pit and a pipe. Depending on the purpose, the heat distribution takes place in different ways.

The main principle of work is laid in obtaining a high temperature due to the combustion of fuel. The resulting heat heats the walls of the furnace. The thicker the walls of the furnace and, depending on the material from which they are made, the heaters can hold the heat longer and therefore have a higher efficiency. In addition to heating the walls, heat can be directed to the heating of stones (stoves-stoves), water (bath options), systems from the tubes for steam and plates for the kitchen.

The combustion of firewood can be regulated by means of an air blower door. By changing its position, it is possible to obtain the necessary flow of oxygen into the combustion chamber (furnace), thereby controlling the combustion rate of firewood and the amount of heat released over a certain period of time.

Good stoves-heaters with a single load of firewood can work from three to five hours.

The exhaust gases (smoke) escape through the chimney. Passing through the whole house to the roof, the chimney itself is a heating system. Smoke enters the pipe and leaves in the surrounding space. Using wood, you do not have to worry about pollution.

Burning wood turns into ash and ash. For its collection is an ash box, which can be quickly cleaned of residues of combustion. Ash can also be used in the household as a fertilizer for the garden.

Safety first

The device of modern wood-burning stoves allows to completely avoid the unpleasant consequences, which are usually associated with the use of open fire in the room. Furnaces do not smoke and do not pollute the surrounding air. They exclude the occurrence of fire in the house.

And, importantly, furnaces that work on wood are very economical means for heating.
