Hatching chickens in an incubator at home

Growing chickens is a profitable business, for which you do not need a lot of time and effort if you have the skills. Many farmers use the incubation method. Hatching chickens has its own characteristics, which will be discussed later.

Suitable breeds

In the incubator it is possible to grow chickens of many meat and egg breeds. The most popular among farmers are:

  1. Chicken Bram.
  2. COBB-500.
  3. Master Gray.
  4. Kuchinsky yellow chicken.

Do not grow houses breed Loman Brown. The procedure for breeding this bird is complex.

Loman Brown

A hatched chick can not inherit the qualities of a parent. This is due to the peculiarity of the breed selection. When creating suitable conditions for content, you will only be able to save some characteristics.

The breed of chickens is in demand in Russia, as it has taken root in the country. Breeding birds usually buy chicks or hatching eggs, sold at genetic poultry farms.

COBB-500

Chicks of this species are in demand, since their survival rate is 97%. Such chickens have yellow skin, besides they quickly gain weight. Farmers slaughter the bird when its age is 1 month. Hatching of chickens of this species occurs according to the standard procedure described in this article.

Incubator

Chick hatching is possible only with a quality incubator. The device will be a replacement for the hen, so it is important that it creates favorable conditions for hatching chickens at home. In an incubator:

  • Temperature and humidity level should be stable;
  • A certain mode must be maintained;
  • There must be a mechanism for rearranging or rotating the trays.

Automatic devices are expensive, but they are much easier to work with. There are mechanical and homemade devices. Each device has its own work features.

Selection of eggs

It is necessary to choose suitable eggs, from which hatching healthy chicks. It's important to make sure they come from a healthy chicken. When selecting the following rules should be taken into account:

  1. A smell should not be.
  2. The optimal weight is 50-60 g.
  3. The ideal shape.
  4. Egg must be demolished no more than a week ago.
  5. No damage.

Wash and wipe eggs should not be, because the microflora of the shell is so damaged. Check them for compliance with the help of a translucent device - an ovoscope. Thanks to him it will be possible to check whether the yolk and the air bag are correctly located. The yolk is in the middle or near the blunt edge. The air bag is located near the blunt end. You should not choose the egg whose yolk is close to the shell or the air bag is less than the volume of a teaspoon.

Due to the transmission of eggs during the selection and during cultivation, it is possible to determine pathologies of the embryo:

  • The presence of bacteria is indicated by spots;
  • Lack of transparency confirms the presence of putrefactive bacteria;
  • The inherent will be when the shell is dried and there is a pungent smell;
  • Pathology gives blood blotches;
  • The presence of redness confirms the presence of a homogeneous orange structure;
  • If the sacrificial shell is damaged during the translucence, then the flow will be noticeable.

Egg laying procedure

Hatching chicks will be without complications, if properly conducted training. Before laying eggs, place in a warm room. The temperature of the eggs should be 25 degrees. The incubator should be cleaned and disinfected during the preparation for laying eggs. It is advisable to check the incubation mode in advance. Before the bookmark, the temperature should be 36 degrees.

Eggs are placed with a blunt end up. If the device is automatic, then you do not need to control the pan inclination, temperature and humidity. With the use of a mechanical device, these characteristics should be monitored very carefully. The horizontal laying of eggs is also performed, and then the trays should be rotated 180 degrees. It is desirable to make a bookmark in the evening. After 4 hours it is necessary to lay averages, and when it will be 4 hours - shallow. Then the brood will be homogeneous.

Incubation

The hatching time is 21 days. During the first stage (up to 7 days), important organs appear. During the first 3 days it is necessary to maintain a temperature of 37.8-38 degrees, and humidity - 65-70%. From 4 days, the indicators are reduced to 37.5 and 55. If there is no automatic coup, then you need to implement it up to 3 times a day at the same time.

During the second stage (from 8 to 11 days), the skeleton, claws and beak form. Suitable temperature is 37.6-37.8 degrees, and humidity is 35-45%. The reversal is the same as in the previous step.

With the onset of the third stage (from day 12), the embryo acquires a fluff and a horny layer on the claws. Suitable temperature is 37.2-37.5 degrees, and humidity is more than 70%. The necessary conditions are created by the fans. Chickens should be checked on an ovoscope. The circulatory system must be noticeable. On the 19-20th day, the eggs are turned over, leaving space, then you do not need to do this.

How does hatching occur? The chicks tear the air bag, and then the shell. They grab the air, they make a squeak. Then they open their eye sockets. Birds are released from the egg. Chickens after hatching are placed under the brood or in the brooder. This is how hatching occurs in the incubator.

Inspection of nestlings

Eggs must be examined after 6 hours, and meat breeds after 10. Chicks have the following symptoms:

  • Umbilical cord closure, lack of blood;
  • Shine and softness;
  • No turbidity of the eyes;
  • Solid beak;
  • The wings are adjacent to the trunk;
  • Activity, reaction to noise.

If it is important to know the sex of the bird, you can use simple methods:

  1. When you take a nestling for the scruff or legs, the males hang quietly, and the hens raise their paws or pull their heads.
  2. During the incubation, the first appear chickens.
  3. The chickens alternate long feathers with short feathers, while in the cock they are all the same.

You can determine the sex of the egg:

  • The presence of tubercles and the ring during palpation testifies to the hatching of the cock.
  • When the ovoscope is illuminated in a male specimen, the air sac is in the middle.

Care

After chick hatching, you need to closely monitor their condition, especially during the first week of life. A few days the chicks are kept in a box.

During the week, you need to follow simple rules:

  1. It is necessary to provide round-the-clock lighting.
  2. The temperature should be 30 degrees, and after 5 days it can be reduced to 28.
  3. The box must be kept clean. At the bottom you need to lay down paper or soft material, which should be changed every day. After 5 days, the chicks must be transferred to cages, which have a fine-mouthed floor and a shield.
  4. Seating of about 30 heads per 1 square. M - so the chicks will be more comfortable. The increase in space is required from 4 weeks.
  5. Feeding is done after 12 hours. The first meal should be corn grits. Then you can give and other food - mango, wheat rump, as well as dairy products. From 3 days you need to give greens. The grass should be treated with boiling water, chopped, mixed with cereals. Feeding for 7 days is carried out after 3 hours.
  6. Water for drinking should always be clean. In the first hours give a solution of glucose, and from the second day - curdled milk.

If these simple rules are observed, healthy chicks will appear. It is important to properly perform all stages of growing chicks, because only then they will be healthy. Chickens are suitable for meat and eggs. Growing birds in an incubator will bring a big income if you deal with this matter qualitatively.
