Harvey Bullock - the guard of "Gotham"

Do you think it's easy to be an ordinary policeman in a city where one half of the population are heroes, and the second is villains? How to remain an honest and decent person in such a troubled place? How to act only within the law and not rotate in criminal circles? That's right, it's complicated. Principity and holy belief in the system is for someone like James Gordon. And Harvey Bullock is made entirely from another test.

So, Detective Bullock is a character from the fictional DC Comics Universe, ie. From the world of Batman, Superman, Flash, Green Arrow and many other superheroes. He serves in the Gotham police department and was initially appointed as mayor of the city by Hamilton Hill in order to undermine the credibility of the new employee James Gordon. In his job duties was to do everything necessary to hinder in every way the investigation of a newcomer. And, by the way, he did it. By his actions, he managed to bring Gordon to a heart attack. However, then I was very worried about this.

Most likely, Bullock was chosen for this role because of his reputation as corrupt, capable of showing the brutality of a policeman, leading a friendship with many criminal personalities. Although most colleagues will express their views on it positively. It's strange, but to Gordon he immediately began to feel sympathy and, despite the clear instructions to sabotage his career, very often supported that. For example, during the first conflicts with the Joker Harvey Bullock repeatedly saved his partner life. And, acting together, they could stop the clown when he decided to wipe Gotham off the face of the earth with a powerful explosion.

Given that in Gotham reliable people can be counted on the fingers, Gordon still manages to build his own small team. There he first took Harvey Bullock, despite the difference in methods of combating crime. Then he invited Maggie Sawyer, who has considerable experience in combating unusual villains and superhumans. Then he called Harvey Dent, an honest prosecutor. And did not forget the detective Eric Cohen - just a reliable person who worked in the police department. Together, they try to stop the brutal Mafiosi Sal Maronni, as well as other dangerous villains of Gotham, such as Joker, Scarecrow and Clayey.

A hair's breadth from death

In addition to working in the police, Bullock worked for some time with the agency "Defeat", engaged in covert operations. Although in fact it was taken for any business, from counterfeiters and ending with religious cults.

Bullock often found himself in a situation from which he was miraculously chosen alive. Bullock also took part in the suppression of the riot raised in the psychiatric hospital Arkham. The thing is that very soon this event was moved to the streets of the city, posing a danger to civilians of Gotham. Immediately there appears the Person-Question, which seizes several hostages, and someone even ministers the mayor's mansion. In general, the level of danger in the city is clearly becoming critical. But Bullock does not frighten it at all, and he takes charge of the operation in his own hands. However, again almost dies, but this is the work of a policeman.

Even during a strong earthquake, Bullock does not try to escape, but boldly battles an evil teenager named Anarchy. As a result, the last one escapes, and the detective gets seriously injured. But when he returned to the station and found out that Gordon was missing, he went to his office, where he got the one from under the ruins.

He does not abandon his partner after the closure of Gotham. When several criminal groups divided the territory of the city among themselves. Then Harvey Bullock and several police officers were left to help the young commissioner disperse the gangs. In the end, the city is opened, which is promoted by billionaire Lex Luther, and Bullock is promoted to lieutenant.

Animated series

It is worth noting that the adventures of the detective are not limited to illustrated magazines. For example, the character Harvey Bullock is found in several episodes of the animated series "Batman". In one series, the Dark Knight rescues him from the Joker; In another series he himself fights with Batman; In the third they generally unite in order to find out who is behind the assassination of Bullock. He was in the animated series about "Superman". And the one who voices Harvey Bullock in all series, is called Robert Constanza (American actor).

Interestingly, Bruno Heller in the series "Gotham" sees team-mate James Gordon a little differently. There he was played by actor Donal Log, and if visually it looks like a character from comics, then the character he was different. Only at the beginning of the first season of the series "Gotham" Harvey Bullock tried to seem tough, cynical and unprincipled man, but after a few episodes even a bullet was ready to catch instead of Gordon. The story begins with how he becomes a partner of a new detective in the police department, and together they begin to disclose crimes committed by both ordinary gangsters and the main villains of Gotham.

In the continuation of the multi-series project "Gotham" (season 2), Harvey becomes even softer. At least in the beginning. After leaving the police, he got a job as a barman and found a bride who immediately drove him under the heel, forbidding even to think about returning to the service. And only the appearance in the city of a merciless gang of "Maniacs", consisting of crazies who escaped from the hospital "Arkham", makes him forget about a quiet life.

Cartoons

In addition to the series "Gotham" (2 so far) detective Bullock was shown in several cartoons about the DC Comics Universe. He can be seen in the spin-off of the animated series about Batman, which was broadcast by the Fox channel from 1992 to 1995. There he hunted for the Dark Knight, who was accused of killing several bandits, and, incidentally, did well in this.

And in the animated film "Batman and Mr. Freese" Harvey Bullock appears only in a small episode after the abduction of Barbara Gordon. And in the animated film "Batman: Mystery Batvumen", which is a continuation of "Masks of Fantasy", he also flashed a few times.
