Gymnast Lyudmila Turishcheva: biography, personal life, sporting achievements

She never lost to anyone. With the submission of rivals, she was nicknamed Turi, and later, thanks to the confidence, perseverance and strength of the athlete, he was added the epithet "iron". Her first champion victory was won at the age of sixteen. Lyudmila Turishcheva, a gymnast, has always been honored with awards at the Olympics and championships. For her sports career, she earned 137 regalia, became the absolute champion of the world. Endurance and composure were present in her character at a high level, and even the breaking projectile at the World Cup did not prevent the brilliant completion of the performance, after which the construction of the bars simply collapsed.

Lyudmila Turishcheva: biography

In the city of Grozny in 1952, the future queen of the gymnastic platform was born. From a young age the girl gravitated toward the art of dance: she walked on her socks, elegantly gestured with her hands. Therefore, my mother gave Lyudmila to the ballet school, but the training in the art of classical dance did not last long, and already at the age of 10 the girl began to engage in gymnastics. The first coach that brought Turischeva to the gym was Kim Wasserman. He then engaged in the search for young talents among pupils of secondary schools. Thirty boys and the same number of girls aged 8-9 years became disciples of coach Kim Efimovich, among the new recruits was Lyudmila Turishcheva.

Two years Wasserman brought up the future Olympic champion, but then moved to work with a group of boys and handed the team of girls together with Lyuda coach Vladislav Rastorotsky.

Preparation for olympiads

The regime of the eight-year-old girl has been dramatically rebuilt since 1964 by the coach, in order to get to the Olympics in Mexico City, which was to take place in 1968. Rise at 5:15, then the morning run. For breakfast half a cup of coffee and a small slice of cheese. The first stage of training was held from 7 am and lasted three hours, then study - and again the gym for honing the elements until late at night. So brought up the strength and will of Lyudmila Turishcheva. Now the woman also adheres to the principles of healthy eating, does gymnastics and thanks to this routine looks flawless.

Each training Lyudmila began with weighing, on which an extra half a kilogram of weight - a reprimand from Vladislav Stepanovich. He was a strict teacher, but Turischeva said that his exactingness was very helpful in achieving results. Lyudmila was considered a motivated pupil and came to play sports even when there were no training plans.

First Olympics

On the eve of the Olympics in Moscow for the adaptation of athletes held sports days. In 1967, Lyudmila Turishcheva came to the adult platform for such summer competitions. Family, coach, friends supported the young sportswoman and wished her victories, but Natalia Kuchinskaya, at that time a more trained gymnast, was the first in the all-around and four projectiles.

In Mexico City for the Olympics, Lyudmila went to a still unknown public gymnast. The attention of the guests, the jury and the paparazzi was riveted to the "bride of Mexico", the same Natalia Kuchinskaya. However, Lyudmila Turishcheva never aspired to work for the audience, she focused her attention on the technique of speech.

The first Olympiad, excitement and ... stall from the logs. In all-round events she got only 24th place, but the Soviet gymnasts team still got on the podium and got gold medals. This would hurt every athlete, and for a person to win a champion title, this state of affairs has become an incredible incentive for further training.

Absolute Champion

After Mexico, a team of gymnasts led by Rastorotsky became heroes in their homeland in Grozny. Sportsmen were met by officials with music and flowers. Two years after his first Olympics, the girl went to the World Championships in Ljubljana. Here Lyudmila gave her full strength and, bypassing her main competitors - Korbut, Janz, Burdu, took first place. The title of the absolute world champion brought her victory in Ljubljana. In the same fateful for a sports career in 1970, Lyudmila was awarded the title of "Honored Master of Sports of the USSR."

A year later the girl added regalia to the coach and herself, deserving the title of European Champion.

Moving in

Lyudmila and Vladislav Stepanovich were not deprived in Grozny of the attention of the republic's leadership and the sports community, but the champion tandem after the Olympics in Mexico moved to Rostov-on-Don, as conditions for life and training there were better. Until 1972, Turischeva in the competition represented the city of Grozny and the sports and athletic society "Dynamo" in it.

In Rostov-on-Don, the girl entered the Pedagogical University and in 1986, defending her thesis, became a candidate of pedagogical sciences. Turishcheva Lyudmila Ivanovna was an excellent pupil in everything: in school, university, in training, competitions, while the time was short. The girl went to the competitions with textbooks, and in the intervals between training ran to take laboratory tests.

Olympics in Munich

In the Soviet national team in gymnastics in 1972 there were three leaders: Korbut, Turishcheva, Lazakovich. The main competitors were girls from the GDR team, led by Karin Jants. The spectator expected a sharp struggle, as in Ljubljana gymnasts from the USSR and the GDR, according to the jury, went with a difference of ten points.

Soviet athletes in Munich immediately in the team tournament came forward, and during the free program for a few more points than the GDR team. German athletes as a result were weaker than the team of the USSR, which climbed to the podium. Burda and Turishchev were then two-time champions. But ahead of all the finals and the struggle for the title of the absolute champion in some kinds of all-around were awaiting. The heat of passion reached its limit, a fierce struggle erupted between Korbut, Turishcheva and Jants.

The graceful sports etude "My Dream Girl", exemplarily performed by Lyudmila, brought the gymnast a victory, as a result of which she is an absolute Olympic champion.

Competitors

The Munich Olympics determined the favorite of the audience. It was not the world champion Turischeva, but the charming and tiny Olya Korbut. Even before leaving for the competitions, the Moscow coaches of the USSR team were betting on Korbut, since her performances were dominated by complex elements that were subject only to Olga. What did the viewer enjoy in Korbut, which Turishcheva did not have?

Olga, going to the gymnasium, wanted to please the public. Her performance was artistic and mischievous. She contacted the audience, smiled, experienced emotions, and thus spent a lot of energy.

When her gymnast Lyudmila Turishcheva showed her program, she appeared to the audience as a serious and concentrated sportswoman. She cherished energy and emotions. Its principle was not to watch the performances of competitors, so as not to be upset and not relax.

But their rivalry was like a sail, which attracted world gymnastics.

Sunset career: World Cup, Olympics in Montreal

In 1975 in London there were competitions in gymnastics. Lyudmila Turishcheva, performing exercises on multi-high beams, felt the instability of the design. One of the cables, crocheted in the floor, began to weaken. The idea that she could lead the country, helped her finish the program. Turnover on the bottom pole, jump without a planned turn, steady position and collapse of the structure. She left the platform, not even turning to look at the fallen boards.

The third and last before the end of sports career was the Olympics in Montreal. Twenty-four-year-old Lyudmila headed the national team and helped her to win gold in the team championship. For the performance of the base jump and for the free program received two silver medals, the bronze medal - in the absolute championship.

The Pursuit of Happyness

In 1976, after gymnastic competitions, as a reward Turishchev was left to the end of the Olympic Games as a public figure on behalf of the Communist Party. Then Lyudmila Ivanovna Turishcheva gave interviews, met with collectives and was to report on her work to the headquarters of the Soviet delegation, which was located on the territory of the men's building of the Olympic village. Going once again to the report, she met Valery Borzov, a sprinter athlete who, for the first time in many years, managed to win two gold medals at the competitions in Munich.

He immediately invited the champion to the cinema, and afterwards the young people exchanged phone numbers. And by the end of 1977 the Olympic couple had played a wedding.

Lyudmila Turishcheva: personal life

After the marriage, Lyudmila moved to Kiev, since her husband is from Ukraine, and according to Slavic traditions a woman after marriage comes to her husband's house. A year later Tatiana was born in the family.

She wanted to become a champion - she became it. Similarly in family life. Lyudmila Ivanovna wanted to be happy, and for 38 years now they have a trusting relationship with Valery Filippovich, built on love for each other.

Tatyana's daughters wanted to impose gymnastics in early childhood. By the age of nine, Tanya realized that this sport was not for her. Then Lyudmila Ivanovna agreed with the coach for athletics, so that my daughter could come running to the stadium. By the age of 11, Tatiana had fulfilled the standard for running for a candidate for master of sports. She performed in sprint races at competitions, but by the time she was twenty she realized that it was not for her. Tatiana decided to engage in creativity and entered the University of Design, where she received the specialty of a fashion designer.

Valery Filippovich and Lyudmila Turishcheva now raise grandchildren. My daughter and her husband live in Toronto.

Coach career

After the maternity leave Lyudmila Ivanovna began her coaching career: first she taught detoxes in the USSR team, then headed from 1992 to 2000. Gymnastics Federation of Ukraine.

Among the 137 regalia, the queen of the gymnastic platform has three highest state awards:

  • Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
  • Olympic Bronze Order.
  • The order of Lenin.

The gymnast, who made no mistakes, is an ideal. Such athletes do not happen, but Lyudmila among her rivals was closest to this ideal.
