Grater for vegetables - how to choose it

Grater for vegetables is a completely uncomplicated object, but without it there is not a single kitchen. For all the simplicity of the design, which is a metal surface with special denticles and holes, it is not so easy to choose a grater for everyday household use. The fact that the graters for vegetables are of different types, so before you make a purchase, you should decide for what purposes this kitchen accessory is purchased.

In general, to choose a type of grater follows the size of the teeth - determine the size of shredded vegetables and, based on this, buy what is most suitable. But it should be remembered that the graters are universal, suitable for all types of products, and special, which are used to prepare a particular dish. For example, a grate for carrots in Korean cuts vegetables in a very special way - long thin plates that look like spaghetti. Naturally, for any other dish to use products cut in this way, it will be problematic, and not all vegetables can be so nashinkovat. Therefore, a grate for carrots in Korean refers to special kitchen utensils and is purchased separately.

Bulk grater for vegetables, in contrast, refers to universal kitchen objects - it contains several (3, 4, 5) working surfaces with denticles and holes of different sizes, which allows to grind products in any way. It is noteworthy that many manufacturers produce volumetric floats complete with a container for chopped products. This gives an additional advantage - the vegetables when sliced will not be scattered in different directions, and after the end of the process they can be neatly poured. Recently, vegetable cutters with replaceable nozzles are very popular. Such an adaptation allows you to chop vegetables in any way - straws, cubes or chips. The only drawback of such a vegetable cutter is sharp blades, so care must be taken during operation.

When buying such a household item as a vegetable grater, special attention should be paid to the material from which it is made. Graters are usually made of stainless steel or plastic. Both of these materials are quite strong, just need to check that they are of high quality. This is important, since the grater's working surface will be in contact with food products - which means that poor-quality material will directly affect the health of all family members.

Curious fact: a grater for vegetables was included in the list of 25 things for cooking, which changed the world. This remarkable invention appeared in the 40s of the 16th century in France, from where it spread all over the world. And although the appearance of this kitchen accessory has changed many times, the working principle and design have remained the same - simple and reliable. And that's why no food processor or an electric vegetable cutter pushed out the usual grater from the kitchen.
