Lyzhichko Ruslana: the winner of Eurovision-2004 and the star of Ukrainian show business

Lyzhichko Ruslana is known to many music lovers in Eastern and Western Europe, thanks to her victory at Eurovision in 2004. She is also known for her irrepressible temperament and attempts to take an active part in the political life of Ukraine. How did Ruslana achieve great success in Ukrainian show business and what do she do today?

Ruslana Lyzhichko: biography, childhood

Ruslana was born in Lviv in the family of workers of the Institute of Petrochemistry. According to the zodiac sign, the singer is twins.

Parents divorced when the girl was eight years old. Mother subsequently made a lot of efforts to Lyzhichko Ruslana held in the show business. And even now the woman works in the producer agency, created by her daughter in Kiev.

It was her mother - Nina Arkadievna - who gave her daughter to study at a music school. Simultaneously, the little Ruslana performed together with children's groups called Orion, Horizon and Smile.

Since childhood, accustomed to the musical culture, Ruslana after the graduation for a long time did not rack her brains how she would get a profession: she went straight to the Lviv Conservatoire. In the conservatory, Lyzhichko mastered the piano and conductor skills.

Lylyzhichko Ruslana has a singing voice of viola and contralto. As she sang from childhood, she decided to try herself in show business after graduating from the conservatory. The first victory did not take long to wait, and already in 1996 Ruslana won a triumph at the festival "Slavianski Bazaar."

In the same year, Ruslana removes her first ever clip for the song "Dzvіky Vіter". During the work on the audio recording of this composition, the girl gets to know her future producer and her husband.

In the 97th. Mr. Ruslan is invited to Lviv television to create a program "Christmas with Ruslana." Cooperation with television helps the performer to win the attention of many TV viewers, so in a year she finally releases her first album. Especially popular were the tracks "Svitlo i tin '", "Balada about the princess" and "You and I did not dream ...". The song "Svitanok" was warmly received by critics and even received the award "Golden Firebird 98".

Breakthrough and worldwide fame

However, Ruslana always felt like a bird of great flight, so she was looking for ways to excel and enter the world market. Lyzhichko Ruslana, whose ancestors were on the daddy's line were Hutsuls, finally found her inspiration in folk music. For the 2003 album "Diky Tantsi", the singer synthesized a new style in which dance motifs mixed with the play of folk Hutsul instruments were actively used. This album in Ukraine has become platinum 5 times. Half a million copies were sold.

In 2004, Ruslana, on her own funds, went to the Eurovision Song Contest in Istanbul. According to the singer, she and her husband "put everything on this competition" and even got into debt. That's why Ruslana understood that she could return back only with a full-fledged victory. Already in the semifinal of the competition Lyzhichko took 2nd place. When the final concert died off, Ruslana was given top marks by many countries, including Russia, Iceland, Poland, Turkey, Estonia, Israel and many other countries. The singer scored 280 points and with a large margin took the first place of honor.

After that, the performer was hit by a crazy popularity. The album "Wild Dances" entered the music stores in Europe. In Romania, the singer even received a prestigious award in the nomination "Best Foreign Album".

Personal life and family

Ruslana Lyzhichko, whose family currently lives in Kiev, is married to her producer, Alexander Ksenofontov, since 1995.

In one interview to Ukrainian TV channel, Ruslana confessed that the year of preparation for Eurovision and several years after that exhausted her: there were cases when the singer was taking off from the stage a show ballet, because she could not move from fatigue. Such exhausting tours have affected her health, so for many years they can not have a child with her husband. Ruslan and her husband are not planning to adopt anyone, so to this day the singer has no children.

Recent events from life

The singer directed her unrealized mother potential in a completely different direction: she is trying to take an active part in the political and social life of Ukraine. Ruslana Lyzhichko, whose songs the entire country knows, was an active participant in the Maydan in 2004, as well as EuroMaidan 2013.

The performer sincerely believed that she was defending the "right" case and from the stage pronounced loud words on this score: in particular, she promised that she would burn herself if Evroimaydan did not bring positive changes to the Ukrainians. Well, there are no positive changes yet, however Ruslana does not hurry herself to betray fire in public. Having suffered a fiasco in the political arena, in March 2015 the singer returned to the show business after a long break.

By the way, the last album of the singer was released in 2012 ("Ye-formi-Ya"), and the last video clip - in 2013. In the same year the singer played her last concert before becoming an activist of the Maidan, which began in November 2013
