Foamy fish. Foam fish with their own hands. Felted fish on pike perch

Each inveterate fisherman must have at his disposal a wide arsenal of all kinds of baits. For several decades of its existence, foam rubber has become an indispensable element of gear. And although some spinners try not to use this type of bait, nevertheless, they managed to prove themselves well when catching predatory fish, and in some cases surpass their usual silicone bait.

The value of foam rubber

Foam is quite soft in its properties, which gives baits from this material a special mobility, providing the maximum similarity to natural bait. In addition, in the pores of this material, air is retained, so that the fish in the water take a vertical position.

Most importantly, the fact that foamfish are non-engaging baits and do not slip off the hook, so in some cases they are more effective than silicone ones. They can be fixed on both offset and double hooks, which is another advantage.

Impregnation attractants - an important point or a trifle?

The material in question admirably absorbs odors, which certainly plays into the hands of the fishermen, since it is possible to impregnate the foam rubber fish with natural attractants. For example, you can use blood, fish oil, or specially developed substances for this purpose. The smell of the bait can not be underestimated, because the impregnated foam rubber fish creates a smell zone on the bottom of the pond, which causes the predator passing nearby to activate.

Technology of fishing

Foam fish is a passive kind of bait, and there is no particular reason to change the degree of its activity, because at times such bait gives the best result.

Most often catching a foam fish is done by long-distance casting or stepped wiring. Uniform wiring should be used in shallow water. In this case, it is more effective to work with draws of a pipe, rather than a coil. With the help of the rod you need to suddenly jerk the bait from the bottom even at the very beginning of the wiring.

Such bait is good because pike-perch, perch, ruff equally well swallow them regardless of the level layer of water. When catching a foam fish, preference should be given to a hard rod equipped with a monolayer diameter from 0.3 mm to 0.4 mm. A finer line should be used in the presence of a current - this will significantly revitalize the game of bait.

Foam fish with own hands

The materials and tools needed to create an effective bait can be easily found on the market. It will take the following:

- foam rubber;

- Super glue;

- Scissors (the sharper, the better);

- razor blade;

- Brush (ordinary school);

- pliers or pliers;

- spirit stain.

Create a billet for the future bait

It should be noted that foamfish, the manufacture of which is described below, are in no way inferior to factory ones and are equally suitable for fishing for pike, perch, and pike perch.

A piece of foam rubber, from which the fish is cut, should be 7-10 mm thick. The usual thin marker or handle draws on the material the contour of the future bait, in length it should be from 8 to 10 cm. After that, the workpiece is cut out with very sharp scissors. To simplify the cutting of foam rubber, you should press it with your fingers along the contour of the pattern. Then, using a razor blade, you need to cut off all the sharp angles from the fish to give it a rounded shape. It is very important to keep the bait proportions: the body should be thicker than the tail part by 3-5 mm.

If you often create foamy fish at home, you can prepare cardboard or metal templates - with their help it will be easier and faster to draw a contour. Cut the bait from a common piece of foam rubber can also be with a conventional clerical knife.

Harness equipment

After the workpiece is cut, self-made foam rubber fish are equipped with hooks. There are two ways to cope with this task. The simplest is to take an ordinary jig-head, choosing the appropriate weight. Using a blade, cut the layout, starting from the mouth of the fish along the back. A jig-head is inserted into the resulting incision, after which the cut parts must be fixed with a superglue. To work it is necessary very accurately, in no event it is impossible to squeeze strongly foam rubber, differently the bait will be hopelessly spoiled.

How to make a foam fish in a second, more complicated way? To do this, you need to heat the awl. Make it a through hole in the workpiece. In the resulting slot, it is necessary to insert the piano wire and twist its ends with pliers in such a way that the rings are formed. Hooks, double or triple, will then be attached to them. In both cases, they must be fixed so that the stinger is located approximately in the middle of the body of the fish.

A few tips on snapping hooks

From the hook, which is located in the bait, depends on the weight of the weight used, so it is important to choose the correct size. It should be slightly larger than the diameter of the attached weight. The advantage of foam rubber fish is the fact that they can be equipped with fairly large offset hooks, while not paying much attention to the cargo.

When catching foam rubber baits, you can use different types of weights, including "eared", but the best result is achieved when using a cargo of the "lentil" type. It is perfectly placed in the mouth of a predator due to its compactness, so the cutting becomes much more effective.

When equipping baits, you can use two hooks: one to fix on the front of the fish, and the second, a small size, is fixed on a long steel leash at the back of the bait. We use foamfish equipped with tee hooks, only in clean deep ponds where there are no snags for which such bait can catch. The tee should be placed clearly in the center of the fish, especially when pike fishing, as it grabs the bait across.

Painting

Once the workpiece is completely ready, it must be dyed. There is an opportunity to show your boundless imagination and artistic skills. Foam can be painted in any color. Fish are made luminous or pearly. They can and do not stain at all - a good result is still guaranteed.

Correctly chosen color of bait can not be underestimated, so it is better to think in advance where the fish will be caught. So, for example, in water reservoirs with yellow sandstone it is better to use a dark bait. If catching is carried out in a pond with a muddy bottom, it is better to work foam rubber fish of bright colors.

How to paint the product?

Foam fish serve longer when using water-resistant paints, but in the absence of those suitable alcohol stain. Paint is best applied with a normal brush, drawing eyes, fins, gill covers, tail - this will be enough to attract a predator. The eyes of the fish can be made from colored shiny beads, attaching them with needles to the body. The easiest way to paint a foam product is to use permanent markers of different colors.

Mormyshka-sinker

To bait does not take down the current, you need to use special weights. The most effective are mormyski-sinker, which proved to be better than tulle and similar nozzles.

Equipped with mormyshka, foam rubber fish on pike perch show an excellent result both in winter and in summer. Weighted mormyshka perfectly copes with the role of a weighted Donkey. As a rule, it is made by casting, but if you have the time and some skills, you can make it yourself.

The load-mormyshka, in contrast to the ball, slightly shifts from side to side during its slow falling, due to which it makes additional luring predators fluctuations. Various movements are also made because of the hinged way of connecting the bait with the hook of the mormyshka. This gives the lure even more similarity with the real fish.

During the commissioning of the mormyshku-sinker can be dragged along the sandy bottom, thereby creating a cloudy cloud that will attract the attention of predatory fish. In this case, the hook does not catch the bottom.

Medium-loaded float for foam rubber on pike-perch

A regular foam rubber fish with a load-head is not very suitable for catching pike-perch in the upper layers of water, since such a bait is rather quickly loaded to the bottom with slow wiring. Because of its severity, it is also of little use for wiring on shallows.

Therefore, when catching a predator in areas with an average flow velocity or in standing water, it is more expedient to use soft baits with a medium-loaded float. Due to this the fish becomes especially light and mobile, attracting not only pikeperch, but also any other predatory fish to itself.

Manufacturing of a medium-loaded float by one's own hands

You can make this bait at home. To do this, take a cylindrical, pointed at the ends foam plastic float diameter of 17 mm and a length of 125 mm. Cut it along. Then it is necessary to put a tube into the specially made hole (you can take the winding from the electric wire). In the inner lower part of the float in both halves it is necessary to cut a small depression into which a cylindrical weight of about 25 g will be placed. In the latter there must be an opening for the tube.

The weight of the sinker is determined on the basis that it is necessary to flood almost the entire float in the water, leaving only a small tip of 3 cm above the surface. It is required to put the weight on the tube and place it inside the float (3 cm from the bottom).

Then both halves of the float are sealed with super glue and carefully dried. Part of the float, which will be in the water, is painted with oil paints in a greenish-brown color. The remaining part will be above the surface of the water, and it is treated with white oil paint.

Then the fishing line of the rod is passed through the tube in the float, by the end of the line is attached the most common foam rubber fish, equipped with a double hook. Since pike perch likes to attack such a bait from below, there is no particular need to further paint it. The predator will only see a dark silhouette against the background of the sun.

Foam made with your own hands, fully justify the efforts you spent.

Advantages and disadvantages

Like any other bait, foam rubber has its pros and cons. The advantages of this type of bait include the following:

- Simplicity in manufacturing by own hands;

- cheapness;

- A good game provided a hard rod;

- the ability to absorb odors;

Mobility.

The following should be mentioned as shortcomings:

- quickness of wear;

- the cutting must be very sharp and strong, so that the predator gets hooked on the hooks and can not break;

- it is necessary to use a rigid rod, otherwise the bait will not attract predators.

Modern manufacturers offer a variety of fishing tackles. It is undeniable that the foam lures could find their place in the arsenal of each spinning machine.
