The meaning of the Taiwan flag

In heraldry, each symbol has its own meaning. Red earth, white sun and blue sky symbolize the Republic of China. The KMT (Conservative Political Party of the Republic of China) had its own emblem and flag - The sky is full of blue with white sun. Twelve rays are a symbol of twelve months and twelve Chinese watches, which symbolize progress. Every Chinese hour is equal to two modern hours. The symbolism of the party began to be used in 1928.

History of the flag of Taiwan

The flag of Taiwan is inextricably linked with the historical past of the PRC. For a long time it was a Chinese national symbol, and then it was replaced by a communist one.

It is generally believed that the Taiwan flag was designed by Lu Hao-Tung, it was used during the uprising against the Manchus. The uprising was led by Sun Yat-Sen. Then, after the Chinese lost the war to the French, the blue flag became a symbol of the struggle against the French. In 1900, the secret society "I-he-chuan" used the current flag of Taiwan under the insurrection.

In 1906, a red color was added to the canvas, symbolizing the blood of patriots and the struggle for independence. Since 1911, different symbols have been used:

  • Flag with five stripes.
  • A flag with 18 stars of gold color.

The current Taiwan flag is dated May 5, 1921, although this date is not accurate. According to other sources, the official date is June 30, 1924.

It's not all symbols. A hymn, the flag of Taiwan with a plum blossom is a state symbolism of the state. The plum flower was approved in 1964, it is of great importance for the people of the country. Plum is not chosen by chance, since it can survive in the most severe climatic conditions. So the people of Taiwan have experienced many historical events. The flower of the plum consists of 3 stamens and 5 petals. Stamens symbolize three folk principles, and petals - five state branches of power:

  • Executive.
  • Trial.
  • Legislative.
  • Administrative.
  • Control.

However, China does not recognize power on the island. Taiwan is not a member of the UN, but until 1971, he represented the interests of China. Since Taiwan did not recognize, then national symbols could not be used in sports competitions. Therefore, unofficially athletes used symbols with the image of a plum blossom.

Also, Taiwan has the flag of the president of the state and the land flag. The first was adopted in 1928 by President Chiang Kai-shek.
