Fable of Krylov "Monkey and glasses". Content and morality. Analysis

A fable is a short story, usually written in a poetic form, with an ironic focus. This genre of literature has a special feature: although it is usually described in it about animals, birds, insects, one must understand that this is an allegory, but in fact it is a question of what excites society. Fable of Krylov "Monkey and glasses" is just a vivid example of this kind of works. Another characteristic feature of the fable is the use of allegory reception. A certain animal actually symbolizes some features inherent in a person. At the very end of the fable is a small conclusion - this is morality. It is not surprising that the scenes based on them are often played out on the school stage. After all, fables are similar in structure to short plays, everything is served very figuratively, and the voice behind the scenes comments on the actions of the characters.

Fable of Krylov "Monkey and glasses". Content

In 1812, Krylov created a fable "Monkey and Eyewear". Since the name of the animal is written with a capital letter, we can assume that in fact it is not about a monkey, but about a man. Fable of Krylov "Monkey and glasses" tells about a monkey, who with age had problems with eyesight. She shared her misfortune with others. Good people told me that glasses can help her see the world more clearly and better. Unfortunately, they forgot to explain exactly how to use them.

The monkey got a few points, but correctly applied them and could not. She tries to string them on the tail, tightly presses against the crown, tastes, smells. Of course, all these actions did not lead to what she began to see better. Then the monkey comes to the conclusion that people lied to her, but in fact there is no any prog. An exasperated Monkey breaks the glasses so that the splashes from the glasses scatter in all directions.

Krylov. "Monkey and glasses." Analysis

As is customary in fables, an instructive conclusion (morality) is contained at the very end of the work. Even when the proposed thing is very useful, not knowing what exactly, the ignoramus will come to a decision that there is no sense in it. If a person not versed in science occupies a high position, he will deal with the persecution of those novelties that he could not understand. Such events sometimes happened in history. Suffice it to recall the persecution of geneticists who were in the USSR.

Officials could not understand this science and decided peremptorily that it was false. This is just an example of how the ignorant cognized on the throne. About these people and narrates the fable "Monkey and glasses." Krylov in his works vividly ridicules human stupidity.

On the flaws and shortcomings

Like any work of this genre, this fable is very ironic. It immediately becomes clear that we are talking about ignoramuses who are not versed in science. The work derides certain defects and shortcomings that are available to a person. Krylov's fable "Monkey and glasses" says that the author does not laugh at this particular monkey, but over all ignoramuses who do not want to understand the obvious.
