Heather honey is considered a product for gourmets. Some people like it immediately, as soon as they taste it, while others seem bitter. In some countries, such honey is very popular, and connoisseurs appreciate its taste. It is made from nectar heather ordinary (branched evergreen plant). It can be found in the tundra, in a pine forest, on sands and burns. Heather honey is obtained in Europe and Asia, but 75% of the product is produced in Scotland. It is very useful, has an interesting taste and is viscous. With rheumatism, asthma, bronchitis, infectious polyarthritis is recommended to use this kind of sweetness.

There is also a "Heather Honey" verse. This is a great popular ballad, written back in 1880 by Robert Stevenson. The work consists of eleven eight-verse and describes the events of days gone by. The poem is dedicated to the people who were expelled by the king of Scotland.

... From the crowd of people were chosen father and son, they were taken to His Majesty so that they showed how a sweet drunk beverage is made from heather. The unfortunate men were threatened with execution and torture so that they would reveal the secret to the king. Finally, the old man gave himself up. But shame before his son restrains his father. Therefore, he asks the king to drown his little son first, so that he does not see shame. His Majesty agrees and throws the poor fellow into the sea. In the end, the author tells the readers that the old man was not afraid of either fire or torture, and the secret of the umrirat along with him. And in his heart will remain the hope that his child will still survive.

Unfortunately, some fragments of this ballad have been destroyed. Nevertheless, the main idea - the heroism of the medovars, the cruelty and greed of the monarch, is understandable. Heather Honey was scattered all over the world; For the first time translated this work into Russian Nikolai Chukovsky. After him, Samuel Marshak did this. The new version was published in 1941, became popular and readable, and the former simply faded from its background. After, in 1947, S.Ya. Marshak and titled one of his collections - "Heather Honey". Today this poem is studied by every schoolboy, it is included in the program and is popular among writers to this day. Readers can hear poetry from this work, put on music and enjoy a melodic song.

Robert Stevenson called the ballad "Galloway Legend". This name is inspired by the Galloway locality in the south-west of Scotland, in which the author loved to visit. Historians believe that only a few events described in the ballad correspond to reality. The author was based only on the legends relating to that period of time. It is said that the "Heather Honey" Marshak translated so beautifully that after reading the work at least once in life, a man falls in love with Scotland forever. And he will definitely want to try this product.

On the basis of the poem, films of the same name were shot, scenes were staged in theaters, musical works were created . In a word, the ballad did not leave anyone indifferent.
