Before we give examples of family traditions, let's all the same try to define the very concept. What, in fact, are these little cultural customs, rules and laws of the modern world?

It is not so easy to find an unambiguous and correct answer to this question, as it might seem at first glance. Why? The thing is that, as it turned out, many of this phrase are understood differently.

Let's address to explanatory dictionaries. In most of them it is said that the traditions of the family are the manners of behavior, norms, views and customs that are passed on from one generation to another. They can vary depending on the place of residence, customs and views. Some of them we gladly accept and are ready to adopt, while others, in turn, cause bewilderment or even fear.

Section 2. Examples of family traditions. Slavic countries

Try to close your eyes and mentally analyze the words "family traditions". What associations arise in memory? In most cases, these are, as a rule, situations and moments from childhood related to parents and children, grandparents, something warm and native. Meetings at the festive table, joint trips to the sea in summer or to the forest for the weekend, tea drinking in a close circle of relatives, favorite dishes, smells and sensations.

According to psychologists, families without traditions do not exist. Just recently, I asked about them from my friend. In response, she heard: "What customs are there? I did not really have a childhood either - kitchen gardens, or sunsets. " But even now they are going to the whole family to land, weed or pick potatoes, and the entire female part is engaged in preserving fruits and vegetables. So, the tradition of family education on the face.

In the Slavic countries it is accepted to celebrate the holidays with noisy and cheerfulness. Feasts are organized in honor of birthdays, anniversaries and own achievements of household members, for example, the first step of a baby, a successfully completed school, admission to an institute or promotion.

Before going to sleep, the family wishes to have a good night, and the oldest tell tales to young children or lullabies.

Of course, all of us, if we think about it, remember a lot of such examples, which were not thought of as some kind of related customs. The theme "Family Traditions" is very extensive, and you can talk about it endlessly. However, let's focus on something strange or unusual in the understanding of a simple Russian person.

Here are just a few of the most interesting, in my opinion, examples:

  1. If, during your stay in Denmark, you notice flags hung in the windows, know that someone inside celebrates a birthday.
  2. One of the Indian peoples can boast a tradition called "Married for three days." According to this custom, a girl enters a short-term marriage for a few days. At the end of this period, the husband leaves her house forever, and she continues to live for her pleasure, setting the desired number of lovers and actively accepting gifts and attention signs from other men.
  3. In Korea, it is accepted to loudly chomp at the table, but only if the food you really like.
  4. In Ireland, on New Year's Eve, neither houses nor apartments are ever closed. Anyone can easily look, and there he will be accepted as a native and, having planted at the table, will be treated with a festive dinner.
  5. Representatives of the Bahutu tribe believe that only a fight brings the newlyweds together for real. After the wedding, there can not be any wedding night : the wife goes to her husband's house and pummels him with everything that comes to hand. This happens for a whole five days.
