Embossing on the skin: different types
Embossing on the skin has recently become quite a popular kind of needlework, which you can do at home. Thanks to him you can decorate various leather products: notebooks, belts, bags and even shoes. It is produced by special presses. Stamping can be hot and cold. Despite only two methods of finishing the skin, there are a lot of options for decorating. The procedure is used to apply logos and even to draw pictures. At home in this way, gifts are mostly decorated.
Hot stamping on the skin is used to apply a pattern on the substrate, which has a thickness of 1.5-3 mm. A drawing is made using a hot cliche. The role of such a tool can play stamps from metal or other instruments, so you can do such art at home.
Such a procedure can be blind and congresive. With blind embossing, only the stamp and skin are used. No additional elements are needed. The finished drawing turns out as if pressed into the base. The quality of the print will depend on the effort that will be applied to the instrument.
Stamping on the skin of the congresive type gives the opposite effect, that is, the pattern is convex. To apply a pattern, the countermatrix and the matrix are used. During the procedure, you can use a variety of colors.
Very popular is the embossing with gold, that is, for work other than the press, foil is used. Naturally, the picture can be obtained not only gold, as the spectrum of colors of the foil has significantly expanded.
Embossing on the skin in this way is performed in the same way as blind, but only on the surface of the skin is additionally overlaid with foil. Naturally, this affects the depth of the impression (small). For this embossing, the press must be heated. During the pressing of the skin, the separating layer of the foil is melted, and the metal layer, due to pressure, is transferred to the drawing.
